“Leadership for Sustainable Development” Programme 2008, London Session
The LEAD Europe “Leadership for Sustainable Development” Programme 2008 began the 9th of June. An impressive cohort of Associates representing 13 nationalities and diverse professional sectors attended the training in London starting their journey to becoming LEAD Fellows.
The 2008 programme kicked-off with an exciting training session in London on “Leadership and Climate Change”, 9 - 13 June. We had contributions from more than 25 cross-sector professionals and leaders throughout the week to give a range of perspectives on key climate change challenges and opportunities. Key climate change issues explored included:
- The need for leadership on climate change
- Transition to a low-carbon society
- Financing a low-carbon transition
Speakers included: Jon Williams, HSBC; Ingrid Holmes, Climate Change Capital; Tony Juniper, Friends of the Earth; Sian Berry, The Green Party; Jim Walker, The Climate Group.
The module schedule illustrates the programme’s balance between external speaker inputs, site visits, skills building sessions and group development. This reflects the three key areas we aim to develop in individual participants: knowledge, skills, and self-awareness.
