Lioudmila's Story

LioudmilaLioudmila Ametistova, Russia

This thing that I valued most of LEAD Fellow’s training and the international session in Indonesia in 2007 was the cultural experience and great new acquaintances and friends I made.

At the international session what really stood out for me was the playing of musical instruments with Indonesian children during on the cultural events, and performing at the presentation at the end of the week when we acted out Working Group’s 4 Avoiding Deforestation learning from the week.

As a result of the experience I hope I have become more open-minded. A specific direct action I have taken to make my life more sustainable was that I installed a water meter in my apartment (by default it’s calculated on average for a family here in Russia and therefore since the amount is fixed and is not dependant on your consumption, people tend to waster water). Now I can feel how my attitude has shifted and think about saving water.

I would definitely recommend LEAD training. Actually, I’m going to recruit a fresh participant to LEAD CIS 13. My major arguments are the latest world scientific and public knowledge, cultural diversity, network, friends, great time, fun!
