Hyder's Story
Hyder Bux Shar Baloch, Pakistan
Thinking about Cohort 12 overall, what is the main benefit for you?
The overall benefit for participating in cohort 12, for me was to get better understanding about the sustainable development, and through this training I got the better understanding on sustainable development. Besides that I was feeling that the leaderships skills could not be developed because of the peoples became leader by birth! But this myth was changed and after attending this Programme. I realized that no one is leader by birth but any one who want to be leader he can by participating in the Leadership Development Programme (LDP), and can do lots of good work for sustainable development.
What is your best memory of Cohort 12?
During the International Training session held in November 2007, in Bandung Indonesia; along with other sessions I participated in this one session also, and it was on “Eight Dimensions Leadership”. This session was facilitated by Mr. Edward Bruce Kellow, Senior Training Manager, LEAD International, and Mr. Abdou Khadier Diop from LEAD Francophone Africa. The session was so inspiring and awakening for me. In whole of my life I didn’t get such a kind of training on Leadership before this. This session was thought provoking and it brought dramatic change in my life. It gave me vision for sustainable development.
Tell us about any life / work changes you have made in your life because of something you learned or an experience you had during the Programme
Confidence is the main thing which I got through Programme. During the participation when I interacted with the people all around the world - from Asia to Africa, from Moscow to London, Karachi to Kazakhstan, Brazil to Beijing, Mexico and Malawi, Bangkok to Bandung (Indonesia) I saw the different cultures, different life styles, also different perspectives - but one thing was common in every one and that was; all were the LEADers not by birth, but they became LEADers through this Programme.
During the regional and international session (Bangkok and Bandung) every participant was keen interested to get and share the new ideas on sustainable development to replicate in their home countries.
I have made so many LEADer friends from China, India, Kazakhstan, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, East Africa, West Africa, Thailand and Indonesia; I am in touch will all of my LEADer friends and with the continuity we exchange ideas and we get suggestion from each other on different issues and projects we develop.
With one of my LEADer friend and I are in process to develop a mutual project which we will implement together in two countries.
Would you recommend the LEAD training to other people and what would you say to them?
If you want be a successful future LEADer and want to work for sustainable development, no matter in which walk of life you are; do participate in this Programme.
