LEAD Int’l volunteerism project highlights
LEAD Pakistan has delivered a project on volunteerism in earthquake hit area of Tehsil Balakot, with the financial aid from LEAD International. Besides creating a Disaster Response Network (DRN) consisting of 150 volunteers and six CBOs, a database-cum-web portal has also been developed to materialise two objectives.
First objective is to maintain centralised information about rescue and response specific skills, location, availability and willingness of volunteers to volunteer within and outside their region. Second objective is to enable external relief agencies’ access to information available on the web portal, so that in case of occurrence of a hazard in Balakot Tehsil or elsewhere they could seek DRN-Balakot’s instant support to initiate rescue operations.
