Fellows Recommendations: Brazil
LEAD Brazil Fellows made a number of observations on the SDDs process in their country, which are summarised below:
- Priority should be given to activities to address Climate Change adaptation policies and practices
- There needs to be more opportunities created to promote exchanges of experience and technology transfer among BRICS countries (South to South exchange)
- Ecosystem services component of the work programme does not include the Atlantic Forest which is also threatened; this apparent oversight should be addressed.
- Greater consideration should be given to social inclusion and the reduction of inequalities between the least advantaged groups and communities – innovative low technology solutions could be explored as ways to address critical issues of social exclusion.
- There needs to be more research into and advancement of renewable energy sources and bio fuels – reflecting global dimensions of this issue.
