Rationale

The reckless infrastructure development to cater to the ever-growing requirements of tourism is one of the major threats to the environment in fragile areas. Many ideas are being implemented to make tourism sustainable including this emerging concept of ecolodge, which could contribute substantially in reducing the negative impacts of unplanned building designs.

Workshop Design

The first part of the workshop deals with extensively explaining the concept of ecotourism, site planning, designing and architectural aspects of ecotourism facilities, business plan and financing of ecolodges.

The second part takes up the process of skill development wherein the participants would apply their learnings and develop actual site plans under expert guidance.
