Biography
Carole THERRIEN is the National Coordinator, Regional Communications, for Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS), a central agency in the Government of Canada that provides management and performance guidance to federal departments and employees. Her current responsibilities include the coordination and functional management of the activities of ten regionally-based TBS communications units across the country. Carole has served the federal government for over 13 years; previous assignments in strategic communications and transition management include the Privy Council Office, Communication Canada, and Canadian Heritage. She has also served as an international election observer and was with the Prime Minister's Delegation to the 1997 Sommet de la Francophonie in Vietnam.
Prior to joining the public service, Carole Therrien worked in a number of political capacities: as Legislative Assistant to a Member of Parliament, as a political advisor with the Liberal Party of Canada and as a strategic advisor with the Prime Minister's Office.
Carole Therrien continues to volunteer with community-based advocacy groups and fundraising initiatives. She studied economics and public administration, and is currently completing an ADR accreditation program with the Atlantic Institute for Alternative Dispute Resolution and additonal studies in English Language and Literature. She lives in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.
