George Laurence BOIRE

Biography

George BOIRE is the Vice President, Environmental Solutions practice at Marsh Canada Limited. Marsh Canada is a Risk Management Consulting and Insurance Brokering firm and is part of the Marsh & McLennan Companies group. George is responsible for environmental services in Canada and he works with other Marsh Environmental team members located throughout the United States and Europe.

Previously, G. Boire was the Vice President, Strategic Client Services at AMEC Earth & Environmental, a division of AMEC Plc which is a UK-based engineering services company. In particular, G. Boire's focus is on promoting and providing environmental due diligence and compliance related services often in conjunction with the financial and legal services sectors. G. Boire is also involved with Brownfield Redevelopment projects and the development and implementation of Environmental Management Systems (e.g. ISO 14000)

Prior to joining AMEC, G. Boire was responsible for the Environmental Risk Management Program at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), Canada's third largest financial institution. He was responsible for both CIBC's Corporate Environmental Program which covers all of their operations, and the Environmental Credit Risk Management Program. CIBC has both a Corporate and a Credit and Investment Environmental Policy. He is a past Chair of the Canadian Bankers Association Environmental Issues Committee. This committee reviewed and commented on environmental issues of concern to financial institutions and their clients.

G. Boire is a Director of the Canadian Environmental Auditing Association and is a Certified Environmental Auditor. He is also a past Chair of the Canadian Bankers Association's Environmental Issues Committee. Prior to joining CIBC, he was a project manager with an engineering consulting firm specializing in environmental assessment, auditing, and site remediation. He also had direct experience with site remediation as the operations manager for a waste management and contracting company.

G. Boire began his work career in 1985 with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment where he was responsible for the review of active and closed landfill operations. He is a Fellow of LEAD.
