Karla Monteiro MATOS

Biography

Karla Monteiro MATOS works for ISER, a major Brazilian NGO in Rio de Janeiro as Environment and Development Projects Coordinator. The main issues she works with are Local and National Agenda 21, participation of civil society in public policies, participatory management of natural areas and environmental education. She also represents the institution in the Brazilian National NGOs Forum as member of the Agenda 21 Working Group coordination. Prior to her current position, she's worked for GREENPEACE Latin America and the Institute for Society, Population and Nature in Brasilia-DF. Karla is a member of technical staff for Brazil's National Agenda 21 taking part in the design of chapters Sustainable Cities and Poverty Alleviation. She is a journalist with post-graduate studies in Theory and Praxis of the Environment
