Biography
Ishaprasad BHAGWAT works in the health sciences division of BAIF Development Research Foundation, an NGO implementing rural development programs. He is a part of a multidisciplinary team across five states of India and is responsible for planning and implementing several health projects involving primary and alternative medicine, nutrition, child care, and health policy research. His area of interest is the epidemiology of noncommunicable diseases. He is also actively involved in women's development activities in villages around Pune. This involves managing gynecological clinics, coordinating income-generation activities for women, and running a legal cell for women.
I. Bhagwat is interested in Hindustani classical music and can play the tabla. He is a member of a spiritual organization called Shri Ram Chandra Mission, Shahajahanpur. He is a medical doctor, with a postgraduate degree in community medicine from AIIMS, New Delhi.
