Biography

Les is a director of onearth; a company that specialises in using attitudinal and behavioural research to help accelerate sustainable change. The premise is simple; to provide organisations with research‐based understandings to enable them to make better decisions about achieving more sustainable futures.
Originally trained as an Aeronautical Engineering he spent 20 years in the RAF as an Engineeering Officer. He then moved into the commercial world and was the CEO of a Training and Development Council in the nineties. In 1999 he shifted emphasis and teamed up with Steve Colling (A LEAD fellow) to work in research. Les' role at onearth is split between that of MD, researcher director and project manager. Increasingly he has focused upon conducting depth and executive interviews; particularly where complex or technical subjects are being explored. Between 2007 and 2009 he has visited 10 countries to conduct interviews across a wide range of market sectors. His personal interests in the field of Sustainable Development are around the issues and tensions of global population, the science of climate change and emerging technology solutions. He holds a degree in engineering and qualifications in maths, statistics and management. He is a Member of the British Empire a member of the Chartered Management Institute and of the Institute of Directors. His hobbies include; offshore sailing, ski-ing and photography and he holds a Private Pilots Licence.
