Biography

I am employed with a small NGO called Environment TOBAGO, on the island of Tobago. Tobago is one of the islands in the twin island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. We are at the bottom of the chain of Caribbean islands.
Though the NGO is relatively small its role over the years in raising awareness and protecting the natural environment through education and advocacy has made it the premier and most respected NGO in Tobago. I am fortunate to have been working with ET, as we fondly refer to it, for the past two and a half years. I am the Education/Project Officer and my work involves designing and implementing education initiatives which reflect the mission of the organisation. Thus far, I have worked on several major projects including the Tobago Wastewater Disposal Improvement Programme Pilot Project, co-authored a book which raises awareness of the Main Ridge Rainforest which is the oldest protected rainforest in the western hemisphere. I also implement shorter projects mainly involving education in schools with respect to Solid Waste generation and prevention (the island curently faces serious solid waste disposal problems), wetland education and will coordinate this summer’s Environmental Eco Camp. More formally, I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems and Management from the University of London and hold a Certificate in Environmental Management from the Cipriani College of Labour and Cooperative Studies.
In Tobago one can expect coral reefs, rainforests, wetlands and mangroves and the most beautiful beaches. Surrounded by such immense beauty I have deep appreciation and respect for the natural world.
