Darwin Initiative

Bali: Overview - Complete Folder

With the support of a three year (2005-2008) grant from the Darwin Initiative, a partnership of organisations worked successfully with four villages (Pejarakan, Sumber Kima, Pemuteran, and Penyabangan) to stop the use of destructive fishing practices and begin managing the marine resources in a sustainable way.

The organisations involved were:

  • LEAD International, London
  • LEAD-Indonesia, Jakarta
  • Marine Aquarium Council Indonesia Programme, Bali
  • Reef Check, Bali
  • Yayasan Pilang, Bali
  • WWF-Indonesia, Jakarta

Lakshadweep: Overview - Complete Folder

LEAD partnered with the Bombay Natural History Society, India's largest and oldest nongovernmental organisation in a three year (2005-2008) Darwin Initiative project in India's Lakshadweep Islands.

The project was called 'Conserving Giant Clams through a Community Reserve in the Lakshadweep Islands'.
