Biography
Rajiv BHARTARI is an officer of the Indian Forest Service and belongs to the Uttaranchal Cadre.
He is presently posted as Conservator of Forests Ecotourism in the headqarters of the Forest Dept. where he is looking after policy, projects, teachin and research in ecotourism in the province of Uttaranchal in North India. He is currently involved in developing a framework for ecotourism in Corbett-Binsar-Nanital region of Uttranchal in Himalayas through a Multistakeholder and participatory process as a LEAD Fellows Project. He is also establishing a 'Centre for Sustianable Livelihoods and Ecotourism' at Ramnagar.
Formerly, he served as the Deputy Director of Corbett Tiger Reserve for six years and as the Divisional Forest Officer of the Social Forestry Division in the Bulandshahar District.
He is a member of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas and has been closely involved with formulation of guidelines and capacity building in the ecodevelopment programmes for involving in biodiversity conservation and in
launching awareness and interpretaion programmes both at Corbett and at WII.
His bachelor's and master's degrees in botany are from Delhi University. In addition, he has received training in wildlife management at the Wildlife Institute of India,
Dehradun.
