Biography
Leah Goldfarb is currently serving as a Science Officer at the International Council for Science (ICSU) in Paris. Her responsibilities include ensuring coordination among ICSU environmental bodies, in particular the global environmental change programmes.
She has represented the Scientific and Technological Community at various fora such as the World Summit on Sustainable Development.
Leah has worked on a wide range of projects at the Council including:
- a Review of the Earth System Science Partnership,
- the International Polar Year (an ICSU WMO activity),
- an assessment of ICSU’s environmental programmes,
- and a report on socioeconomic data in relation to the Integrated Global Observing Strategy Partnership.
Originally trained as a chemist, Leah obtained her PhD from the University of Colorado. Her research background is in atmospheric ozone and climate research.
