Biography
Klaus Niederländer, a German national, currently works as programme manager at the Centre for the Development of Enterprise (CDE), an EU ACP private sector development institution, based in Brussels, Belgium. He is in charge of developing, implementing and evaluating SME (small and medium sized enterprise) development programmes in various industrial sectors of Sub Saharan Africa like textile and leather. He is also implementing a pilot programme on SME investment support in partnership with SME focused investment funds.
Before joining CDE, Klaus has worked as a management consultant for 3 ½ years with Monitor Company, based in Boston, USA, for which he undertook numerous assignments in the pharmaceutical, chemical, logistics and
financial sector in Germany, Switzerland, England and France. Furthermore he was involved in conceptualizing an economic development strategy for the city of Johannesburg, South Africa in 2000.
Klaus has also worked two years in investment banking after graduating from business school within the asset management arm of Robert Fleming, London. He thereby took up assignments in Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Paris and New York.
Klaus has a Masters degree in European Economics from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium and holds a bachelor degree in European Business from a joint programme between Munster, Germany and Hull, England.
Klaus is a father of two little boys, with whom he spends most of his pastime next to exercising some sports like running.
