Biography
A native New Yorker, Bridget moved to the UK in September 2007 to undertake a Masters at the London School of Economics and Political Science for an MSc in Gender, Development, and Globalisation.
From 2008-2009 she worked full-time at LEAD coordinating the LEAD Europe program for Cohorts 13 and 14 as well as facilitating Fellows Network activity for the LEAD International Secretariat. In January 2010, Bridget moved home to New York but remained as a consultant to LEAD on communications and network activity.
In July 2010, she accepted a position at the Women's Environment and Development Organization (WEDO), www.wedo.org, as the Project Coordinator of the Women Delegates Fund at the UNFCCC negotiations.
The Women Delegates Fund (WDF) is a Global Gender and Climate Alliance (GGCA) project administered by WEDO on behalf of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with support from the Government of Finland. The principle objective of the WDF is to increase the participation of women delegates at the UNFCCC negotiating meetings through financial support and capacity building. The Fund prioritizes women delegates from the Global South who have both climate change and women's empowerment experience.
Beyond this Bridget supports WEDO’s overall communications (website, press releases, and newsletter) and program work through research on gender and environment issues as well as acting as a UN representative for our global advocacy initiatives.
Besides sustainable development and human rights she has a passion for music, both singing and playing the harp since childhood. She is a member of a group called “The Strings of Tara” which released their first album in 2007. She believes that her love of music and its transcending power was the foundation to shaping her passion for building a more sustainable and equal world!
