Isabela  Souza

Biography

Isabela is the Business Development Manager at LEAD International. She is part of the LEAD International development team responsible for expanding LEAD’s projects with businesses.

Immediately prior to LEAD International, Isabela worked at Business in the Community, one of the Prince of Wales' Charities in the UK that leads on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). There, she was responsible for managing the annual Environment Index benchmarking survey, including the analysis of strategic business messages and opportunities, and the facilitation of knowledge sharing to support continuous environmental improvement in the different industry sectors

Prior to coming to the UK, she set up and ran the Rio de Janeiro branch of Essencis Remediation Environmental Consultancy in Brazil. Her former career also included engineering and environmental posts with ExxonMobil in Brazil. In these roles, she was responsible for the overhauling of oil storage terminals under the environmental prevention technologies programme, for the conduct of Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Internal Audits, for the development of Joint Venture’s HSE Management Manual and for running environmental assessments and remediation projects. She started her career working with ISO 14001 at the Logistics and Quality Department of Petrobras, the Brazilian state oil company.

Isabela also lectures in Environmental Policy and Regulation for masters students and Environmental Management and Strategy for undergraduates at Birkbeck College, University of London. During her spare time, she enjoys music, photography and travelling.

She has MSc in Environment & Development from London School of Economic (2005). She earned her Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management from FGV-Rio (2002), and her BSc in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from PUC-Rio (1999). She speaks fluent Portuguese (mother tongue), conversational Spanish and elementary French and Italian.
