Biography
Cristhian Escobar is an Electrical Engineer who graduated from the University San Carlos of Guatemala USAC, and Management of Environmental Resources through the University of International Cooperation, San José, Costa Rica, with several credits on the Integrated Management of Hydrographic River Basins by FODEPAL/FAO project. He has participated actively in the private electrical sector of Guatemala, since the approval of the General Law of Electricity in 1996, has participated and developed many feasibility studies for small hydro projects in areas of hydrology, social impact, environmental impact, electrical interconnection, carbon credits among others.
University professor by more than five years for Mechanics of Fluids class in the USAC, and three years like university professor for Mathematics class in the Rural University.
Since its foundation, he has been worked closely with the Federation of Renewable Energies of Central America and Caribbean FERCCA (www.fercca.org ) and recognizes the importance of the efficient use of the renewable resources for the economic development of countries. He is currently Executive Director of the Association of Generators with Renewable Energy AGER (www.ager.org.gt ), a nongovernmental association which promotes the use of the renewable sources of energy.
Member of Latin America Countries Project Steering Committee Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP), Member of the environmental committee of the Chamber of Industry of Guatemala and Member of the Sectorial Technical Commission of Energy of the National Secretary of Science and Technology (CONCYT) of the Government of Guatemala.
He has participated actively in the private electrical sector of Guatemala since the approval of the General Law of Electricity in 1996, as a developer of feasibility studies of an out number of potential small hydroelectric and photovoltaic projects.
At the moment he is the Executive Director of the Association of Generators with Renewable Energy AGER (www.ager.org.gt), which is a nongovernmental, non profit organization and he has participated actively in the creation of the Federation of Renewable Energies of Central America and the Caribbean FERCCA (www.fercca.org), both organizations for the investigation and promotion of the use of the renewable sources of energy.
