Biography

Hyder Shar is a development practitioner, working with LEAD Pakistan, Head office, Islamabad in the capacity of Young Professional Officer in Project Management Department. Before his appointment as Young Professional Officer at LEAD-Pakistan Head office, he was working as District Coordinator School Improvement Grant at LEAD-Pakistan's project office Khairpur Mir’s District of Sindh Province-Pakistan. The project was supported by Education Sector Reforms Assistance (ESRA) programme and United States Agency for International Development (USAID). He has been entrusted to supervise the activities related to grant management. He managed the grant in 1300 Boys & Girls Primary schools of Khairpur District and disbursed $1.85 million in 1300 schools of Khairpur District, Sindh Pakistan.

Before this role Mr. Shar has been working as a Coordinator START (Student Teacher Appreciation and Recognition Token) Package, with LEAD Pakistan, where he led all the activities of START Package and managed the START activities at Khairpur and Sukkur Districts. He efficiently and transparently managed the distribution of 83300 START Student and Teacher Kits.

Mr Shar joined the LEAD Pakistan as a Trainer & Social Mobilizer in September, 2004. Before joining LEAD, Hyder Shar worked as Social Research Officer (Social Scientist) in the Department of Paediatrics, The Aga Khan University Karachi. The project dealt with the Zinc Supplementation during Acute Childhood Diarrhoea a cluster randomized trial in rural Pakistan. This project happens to be one of the largest community-based cluster randomized trial of this nature in Pakistan with enormous opportunities for training in research methodology, field surveillance, data collection and career development in epidemiology. The project was a joint venture of World Health Organization (WHO) & Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health USA; supported by USAID.

Mr. Shar has also worked with Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) Sindh-Pakistan

Mr Shar’s experience of working as a sub-editor with The Mirror, a daily from Karachi, lends charm to his report-writing skills.

He also has written articles and letters in Sindhi and English daily newspapers on development and environmental issues.

Mr. Shar has degrees in MA Sociology from Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur and LLB from Law College Khairpur.
