Biography
Afke BOOTSMAN is a Programme Analyst in the Private Sector Division with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in New York. She works on a global research and advocacy multi-stakeholder initiative, ‘Growing Inclusive Markets’, on how business can contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Before joining UNDP in New York in March 2006 Afke worked for three years for UNDP in Guyana, a small country on the Northern shores of South America. She was a project officer and responsible for the design and implementation of poverty eradiation programmes. The first two years of her working career were spent with the Dutch NGO Hivos (www.hivos.nl) in the Netherlands where she was the assistant to the Director Programmes and Projects and the Senior Economic Policy Advisor.
Afke has a Masters degree in International Relations from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. She thoroughly enjoys going to the cinema, traveling, reading and spending lots of time with good friends.
