Biography

Katharine THODAY, is an international policy advisor for the UK Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, with particular responsibilities for promoting sustainable forest management and preventing illegal logging at the international level.

Prior to joining Government, Katharine worked in the NGO sector and was project manager for a civil dialogue project on youth social inclusion. She has experience of working in Belgium, Croatia, India, Palestine and the U.S. on a range of advocacy, development education and dialogue projects.

Katharine is a social and political scientist with a Masters in International Rural Resource Management. Her research has looked at the links between livelihoods and Natural Resource Management (particularly in peri-urban areas) and the role of political capacity in decision-making.
