Biography
Gitanjali BEDI joined LEAD in March 2003 as a Programme Officer with the Capacity Development team. She works on the design and implementation of capacity development projects within the LEAD network and with partner organisations. This includes supporting the development of the curriculum and international events for the (formerly 18-month) LEAD Associate Training programme, an international course on leadership and sustainable development with up to 250 participants and staff from across the world per intake.
Gitanjali is a trainer and facilitator and regularly conducts training sessions and workshops in leadership and sustainable development skills modules for participants from NGOs, academia, business, media and government.
Her responsibilities also include; development and design of LEAD training curriculum for short courses, LEAD training-of-trainers facilitation and coordination, and the coordination of regional training events (LEAD Europe and USA training programmes).
She works as a facilitator and trainer, particularly in the core leadership skills of systems thinking, cross-cultural communication, ethical decision-making, teambuilding and networking, and negotiation and problem-solving. She is an experienced process facilitator, and has co-developed and implemented training-of-trainers activities internationally. She has been instrumental in developing the LEAD CD-ROM on ‘Writing Project Proposals’.
In her capacity of Programme Officer, she has undertaken work for a wide range of organisations around the world, including: UNDP Capacity2015 (Latin America, Asia and ECIS), United Nations University for Peace (Costa Rica), Forum for the Future (UK), PERSGA (Jordan), National Water Research Centre & FAO (Egypt), Association of Commonwealth Universities (UK), Moldovan Ministry for Environment and others.
Gitanjali’s previous experience is in the international aid and development sector working in Asia, Pacific and Australasia. Gitanjali has degrees in Political Science, Business Management and International Development Studies from Canterbury and Massey Universities, (New Zealand). She is a member of the International Institute for Improving Training Quality.
