Umar Yahaya KAWU

Biography

Umar is the President of Keytab Institute a Leadership and Management Development Institute based in Nigeria.He is currently consulting for the British Council as a Facilitator in the InterAction Leadership programme,a leadership programme being carried out in partnership with Questions of Difference and LEAD International in 19 African countries/United Kingdom.

He was a Senior Consultant and Team Leader in the Organisational Training and Skills Development Team in ReStraL Consulting. His responsibilities included business development, marketing and development of capacity building products.

A seasoned facilitator of Leadership and Management Development Programmes, Umar developed several training products and product lines in the firm. He coordinated the effective delivery of training programmes in the team responsible for disseminating knowledge and building capacity in people.

He developed and participated in a number of attitudinal/ culture change programmes aimed at translating corporate strategy to reality.

Prior to joining ReStraL Consulting, Umar worked in the Sales and Marketing Departments of Pfizer Products Plc., Colgate Palmolive and Swiss Pharma Nigeria Limited (formerly ROCHE) as a District Manager, Area Manager and Product Manager, respectively.

He is a Pharmacist and has a Bachelor Of Pharmacy degree(1988) and an MBA from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Nigeria. He is a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management, an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Marketing of Nigeria and a Member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria.

While at the University, Umar was the Secretary General of the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students (ABU) chapter and after graduation; he was elected the Assistant Secretary General of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Kaduna State.

Umar was the Best DIFLUCAN National Pharmaceutical Sales Representative in Pfizer Products Plc in 1994 and also the Best Representative on Marketing Information and Resource Coordination in Pfizer Products Plc in 1994.

His interests include:leadership/management development, health management, disaster management/conflict resolution, learning and teaching people.
