Biography
BEATRIZ CARDENAS GONZALEZ
Beatriz CARDENAS GONZALEZ is Director of Research on Air Pollution Monitoring and Characterization of the National Environmental Research and Training (CENICA) in Mexico. She leads a group of 15 people, among technicians and junior researchers. She is responsible for planning, developing, oversees and publishing research projects on air pollution monitoring and characterization since November 2001. Before joining to CENICA, she was a visiting professor at the Chemical Engineering Area of the Metropolitan Autonomous University, Iztapalapa Campus in Mexico City. As visiting professor she was responsible for teaching bachelor and graduate courses. In the research arena, she conduced research studies focused on materials identification and characterization as well as designing and operation of pilots scale studies. She also participated either as thesis director or advisor of approximately 10 undergraduate and 4 graduate students and was part of the team of the University Environmental Program. Beatriz is a biochemical engineer and holds a master and PhD degrees in Environmental Engineering from the University of Massachusetts. Her present interest is on the applied research on air pollution to generate information both to design and implement programs and policies to improve the air quality in urban and rural areas.
