Biography
Esther ZAMUDIO-RAYSON joined the LEAD International secretariat as a consultant in April 2002; mainly working alongside the Capacity Development team. Among her responsibilities are the preparation and running of International Training Sessions; including the overall management for the delivery of the events and preparation and research of the content material. She has also taken part on the development and running of other LEAD initiatives (YL programme, Food Security programme) and partnerships (UNDP/LEAD). Esther joined as a permanent staff in December 2004.
Before coming to LEAD, she worked at ERM-Mexico as a project consultant where she carried out environmental site assessments, environmental compliance audits and environmental managament systems implementation for several industries. Part of her time at ERM was spent at the ERM-Houston office. From 1995 to 1998, Esther worked as an Environmental Engineer for Deltronicos de Matamoros (DDM), an automotive factory in the Mexican border. At her position she conducted several projects including: a diagnosis study for a wastewater treatment plant expansion; a hazardous waste tracking system design; and the implementation of the ISO14001 Environmental Management System. Part of her time at DDM was spent at the headquarters in Indiana, USA.
Esther has a bachelor degree in Biochemical Engineering from the Technological Institute in Veracruz, Mexico and a master's degree in Environmental Engineering from the Technological Institute of Superior Studies of Monterrey ITESM also in Mexico. She is a native Spanish speaker; speaks English fluently and also speaks some French.
