Biography

Paula Magalhães ARANTES has worked for three years on the creation, establishment and management of the Lagamar Ecotourism Hub Project through Fundacao SOS Mata Atlantica. Her environmental expertise is in the area of sustainable development through the use of ecotourism as a tool for environmental conservation and education. During an internship at the Conservation International, she focused on the exchange of knowledge related to the methodology of ecotourism development. She has been a consulant on ecotourism for cities, private enterprises and conservation entities, and is an active member of a multidisciplinary study group that focuses on lobbying for the regulation of ecotourism in Brazil.

She graduated from Renacenca University with a major in hotel management and received her postgraduate degree in environmental tourism from SENAC/CET. She has taken courses on topics such as ecotourism and Atlantic Rain Forest ecology and has participated in a number of conferences and events related to ecotourism.
