Hadimulyo is vice chairman of the board of experts of the Central Board of the Islamic-based United Development Party. From 1992 to 1999, he was an elected member of the People's Consultative Assembly and Member of Indonesian Parliament (MPR/DPR). Prior to this, he was director of a private institute for religious and philosophical studies.
His interests include peace and conflict resolution, human rights, institution building and cultural, philosophical and religious approaches to environment and development issues. Hadimulyo is now a member of the board of directors of ELSAM (The Institute for Policy Research and Advocacy), a human rights institute, and the National Presidium of Center for People's Participation, an umbrella organization of multi-sectoral voluntary organizations.
