Adeolu Olanrewaju ODUSOTE is managing director of DEE-IY Limited, a computing, engineering, environmental and management consulting firm. He is responsible for the overall performance of the company. In the 1985 Nigeria Institute of Management's Annual Young Manager's Competition, he was awarded first place for his project on reducing and reusing scrap material. A.O. Odusote has a bachelor's degree in engineering and a master's degree in business administration, both from the University of Lagos. He also has a professional degree in engineering from the Nigerian Society of Engineers and pursued further training in advanced Christian leadership at Haggai Institute in Singapore.
Since his becoming a LEAD fellow in 1997, Adeolu has taken a greater interest in his business in matters relating to the environment. He has presented proposals that will enhance the private sector participation initiative for effective waste management in nigerian cities. In this regard, he won the first internship award with which he worked at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies(IGES), Hayama, Japan. The internship which ended in July 2000 produced useful modules for capacity building in his field of interest. These modles are now being included as e-courses on the IGES website. In 2000/2001, Mr. Odusote was awarded the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship in which he did a one-year post-graduate work in the Principles of Environmental Management, Community Development and Conflict Resolution at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. During that fellowship year also, he worked at the Worldwide Environmental Affairs Division of Johnson and Johnson at the Group Headquarters in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where he analysed the waste levels in the different plants of the Group around the world and at the World Resources Institute (WRI), Washington D.C., where he presented a paper titled 'The Way Forward: A synthesis and critical analysis of a one-year quest for sustainable development in the Niger Delta' as the summary of his fellowship year experience. Mr. Odusote, in March 2002, coordinated a Presidential Retreat for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at the Africa Leadership Forum, Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria on the role of the Christian citizen in a corrupt society. The outcome of the meeting is part of an action programme that will further deal with stemming the downward slide of the country in corrupt practices. Mr. Odusote is currently working on an initiative called NASS Ray of Hope (NAROH), an effort targeted at the members of the National Assembly in Nigeria challenging them to bring the Principles of Jesus to bear in their legislative work. Mr. Odusote presented a lead paper at the Annual General Meeting of the Institute of Environmental Engineering (a Division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers) on 'Effective Environmental Management'. During that conference, he had the opportuinty to present another paper 'Bridging the Integration Gap' where he shared the findings of his LEAD/IGES internship experience with the conference participants. As a result of his contributions at that conference, Mr. Odusote has been invited to carry out field surveys of some nagging environmental construction projects around the country. |

Bellinda Aderonke ODENEYE is an assistant chief environmental scientist in the Environmental Assessment Department of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Lagos. She is the desk officer responsible for petroleum upstream and downstream operations in the Oil and Gas division which involves oil spills data collection compliance monitoring and enforcement visits to the various Oil companies,PAST Impacted sites monitoring of bioremediation and certification and the downstream industries making use of petroleum products.Event response to disasters caused by petrol product inferno is a major part of my schedule.
This present job started in January 1987 and has been her real working experience as others were Industrial training on two occasions at a pharmceutical companies and Graduate assistanceship at a University in Nigeria for one year service of the Nation. Past positions held include Principal Environmental scientist in charge of metallic and non-metallic mineral products unit of the Industrial compliance division. Senior environmental Scientist and scientific officer 1 and 2. in the following departments, Environmental quality,inspectorate and enforcement. Her job schedule has taken her to the western division office of Shell petroleum development company for 6 months industrial attachment. This was to foster a good working relationship between the Regulator and Facility Operators. She is interested in issues of good governance, health,waste management, gender, water and environment. Adesuwa ONYENOKWE began her professional career as a teacher in Bendel State in 1984. She entered into broadcasting in 1985 and has since remained a television journalist/broadcaster.
After fifteen years in paid employment in the broadcasting industry, Adesuwa decided to set up a firm, with television programs and documentary producers which currently has one running chart show on NTA 2 Channel 5 Titled - 'Today's Women with Adesuwa' In addition, Adesuwa co-hosts, two popular day-time shows on the same station. With a degree in dramatic arts and a master's degree in language arts, communication as a tool for development has always been her main interest; an interest that has shown in the care and concern she takes in packaging reports or programs with the viewer in mind - the same diligence that won her an award in 1994. |

Aditi Chadha Kapoor is a well-known journalist, development consultant and trainer in communications, advocacy and campaigning. She currently works with Alternative Futures as Director (Policy). It is development research and communication group.
Before joining Alternative Futures she was with Oxfam India as Economic Justice Lead Specialist with overall national responsibility for leading, designing and delivering on Oxfam's work on livelihoods and climate change in India and liasioning globally within Oxfam's international affiliates. Earlier, Aditi worked with Oxfam GB's South Asia office as its media lead in addition to work on advocacy, campaigning and training. Winner of the 1998 LEAD Fellowship, her LEAD Research focused on rural women and natural resource management, linking environment, development and gender issues from a practice and policy perspective. Correspondent with The Times of India for over a decade and winner of the 1992 Statesman Award for Rural Reporting, Aditi has specialised in media, gender, environment and development. She has worked as a consultant with several government departments, United Nations agencies and NGOs to research, evaluate and document issues, processes and policies related to poverty and community development. Aditi is a founder trustee of Alternative Futures, a development research and communications group based in New Delhi. She has been a member of the LEAD-India Board (earlier Nations Steering Committee) and the Board of World Resources Institute, Washington D.C. (2000-09). Aditi has several papers to her credit and has participated in various national and international meets. Aditi's husband, Rakesh Kapoor, is a founder and Managing Trustee of Alternative Futures and Consulting Editor of The Journal of Policy, Planning and Futures Studies published by Elsevier Science, Oxford. Admos Osmund CHIMHOWU is a lecturer in Development Studies at the University of Manchester's Institute for Development Policy and Management. He is also programme director for the MSc in Environment and Development, and the MSc in Economics and Management of Rural Development. He has also been a lecturer in Development Studies in the Department of Rural and Urban Planning at the University of Zimbabwe. Before joining the University of Zimbabwe in 1998 he worked as a lecturing consultant at the Zimbabwe Institute of Public Administration and Management's Policy and Strategic Studies Division. He had also earlier worked as an environment research officer for ENDA-Zimbabwe an Environment NGO. Current research interest areas cover the areas of : Sustainable Livelihoods, Environmental Policy; Environmental Justice and Poverty issues.
He received a bachelor's degree with honours in geography from the University of Zimbabwe in 1989, a post graduate diploma in rural and urban planning in 1990 and a master's degree in regional and urban planning. Agnes FERNANDES is a geographer currently working as a researcher at IPT, a technological research institute located in the city of São Paulo. Her previous research was related to disaster prevention projects in urban areas, with a focus on geotechnical risk control in slums and mountainous regions. This also included engineering-geology maps applied to urban development and risk prevention associated with land use. She presented the paper 'Rain Induced Landslides in Serra do Mar - Cubatao' at the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (HABITAT II) in Istanbul. Recently, she has started to study environmental education focusing on urban environments. She is pursuing a doctoral degree in anthropo-geograph at the University of São Paulo and has participated in a training course in Japan on the topic of science and technology for disaster prevention.

He is responsible for developing wetland management plans for selected wetlands of Makran Coast, Central Indus, Salt Range and North West Alpine wetlands complexes. Before, this assignment Mr. Khan worked on Crane and Flamingo Conservation Project and the project on conservation of Chilgoza forests and endangered Suleiman markhor in the Suleiman Mountain Range. Before joining WWF – Pakistan, Mr Khan worked as Range Officer with the NWFP Wildlife Department and volunteered as Executive Director of the Holistic Understanding for Justified Research and Action (HUJRA). During all this time he coordinated the activities of International Crane Foundation in Pakistan and Afghanistan on a voluntary basis. Over the past few years, Mr. Khan has developed his skills from a simple wildlife manager with academic training as forester to a skilled conservation Biologist. He has successful projects like community-based conservation of snow leopard to his name. Ahmad Mukhlisin Rony is a Research Associate at the Institute of Natural and Regional Resources (INRR), Bogor, West Java Province, Indonesia since 2001. His main responsibility in INRR includes socio-economic aspect analysis; research design and planning, monitoring and evaluation. Rony has intensive experience on regional planning related to rural development, with emphasis on socio economic aspects. He has worked for various consultant companies from 1989 to 2000. He was a part timer lecturer at Faculty of Economy, Ibn Khaldun University (1999-2002). He completed his master degree in Regional and Rural Development from Bogor Institute of Agriculture in 1995. Since then, he has been actively advocating environmental and development issues, particularly in Lahore where he lives. He consistently worked on the projects that benefit the environment and urban planning. He contributes a column on environmental and urban planning issues in The News. He pursued a number of pro-bono public interest litigations before the Environmental Tribunal, Lahore and the Lahore High Court. His experience with “Lahore Bachao Tehreek†introduced him to a number of senior activists in the field. He also teaches property law at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and contributes to various academic papers.

He has deep knowledge of running small businesses having assisted in setting up, running and building capacity in the sector. He is interested in economic development and poverty alleviation issues.
He holds a bachelor's degree in Economics and two masters degrees in Economics and Banking & Finance. He is a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Acoountants of Nigera and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. He is also an alumnus of the prestigious Lagos Business School. He has attended numerous courses locally and abroad. He has also facilitated a number of courses and presented a wide range of papers in banking, management and economics. |
