Ju Zhan-jie graduated from Northwest Politics and Laws College in 1992, and obtained Bachelor of Laws degree. From July 1992 to November 1996, she had been working in Shenyang Xinyang Machine Manufacturing Company as assistant law consultant. she was responsible for examining important contracts and providing advice on law to related activities. During this time, she passed some strict examinations; as a result she obtained the Lawyer and Consultant certifications. In October 1996, after another strict examination, she earned a post in Liaoning Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau. Since then, she has been working in policy and regulation department. Her responsibility covers drafting laws and regulations related to environmental protection in Liaoning. When her colleagues met difficulty in the area of environmental management, she always tried her best to raise right and lawful explanations. She is also responsible for the reply work of proposals and motions. She was awarded by the Provincial Government for her hardworking. In 2003, she obtained master degree of Laws after two year's study from Capital University of Economics and Business.

Zhanna ZHAKUPOVA is an Executive Director with the Asian Credit Fund (ACF), a non-depository, non-bank financial institution headquartered in Almaty, Kazakhstan. She is responsible for overall ACF performance and strategic development as well as for its mission success. Zhanna ensures long-term development impact by meeting the company's financial goals and attaining financial sustainability.
In her professional career within the organization, Zhanna has gone through the bottom of hierarchy line straight to the top. Her successful loan officer work experience strengthened with theoretical knowledge from a local MBA school helps Zhanna to effectively manage the organization. Zhanna actively participates in international microfinance community life. She is a working trainer for the Microfinance Center for NIS in Poland. Ms. Cheng Zhoamin is the Senior Environmental Specialist for Nokia (China) Investment Co., Ltd. In this capacity, Ms. Cheng is in charge of the environment affairs in the Company, which includes:

Such as lead the Nokia Environmental Ambassador Club, organize and coordinate environmental campaigns and activities, provide environment training, etc. 2. LI Zhe (Jerry Li) is the Country Director of New Ventures China Program which was initiated by the World Resources Institute (WRI). Previously, he was the Chief Operation Officer (COO) of Asia Logistics Technologies (China) Limited and the General Manager of FedEx Logistics China, leading FedEx Corporation's Logistics and eCommerce China Team for more than three years. Prior to FedEx, he was a senior engineer and associate professor at the University of Petroleum, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), where he was responsible for conducting research and
teaching courses in environmental impact assessment, resource development and planning, environmental systematic engineering and sustainable energy development. He has attended various national and international conferences, including the International Symposium on Environmental Impact Assessment in 1987 and the International Conference on Environmental Sciences and Technology in 1995. Li Zhe has published nine papers and his study 'A Research on Environment Carrying Capacities for Migration in Three Gorges Region' was awarded the National Key Research Program in 1992. He has a bachelor degree in resource management (1987) and a master degree in human environment (1990). |

Huang Zhen now is studying for her second master degree on MESPOM(Master of Science in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management)in Europe. Before this, she was a law lecturer in the Law Department of China Women's University, teaching undergraduate level courses in Environmental Law and Civil Law Case Study. She got her first master degree in Environmental Law from the Graduate School of China University of Political Science and Law in 2003.
Besides teaching, she was also joining in an environmental education program of an Chinese NGO. In the program, she was one of the capacity building trainers for the program's teachers as trainees. |

Zheng Liao is a Program Officer at NPI which is the Non Profit Incubation organisation in China. Ms. Liao joined NPI in June 2008 and she is in charge of managing the Incubator and other sustainable development projects, particularly those related to post-quake reconstruction.
Zheng holds a Master of Administration from Peking University and a Bachelor of Computer Science from Southwestern University; She also has a National Vocational Qualification of a registered project manager. From July 1997 to May 2002, she worked at the China Construction Bank, as a technical key member and participated in developing and promoting of ‘Credit Management Information System’ in Beijing and ‘City Integrated Network System’ project in Chongqing. From 2003 to 2004, she was a UN Volunteer of UNDP Support Promoting of Volunteerism and Volunteer service in China, implementing projects and activities in Yunnan Province. She also wants to design some sustainable development projects to help those grass-roots NGOs of NPI incubation. She has a strong awareness of sustainable development and teamwork spirit, desires to learn more systematic theory of sustainable development given by LEAD. |

Mr Li enrolled in China University of Geosciences in 1990, majoring in safety engineering and graduated in 1994 with a bachelor degree in engineering. Upon graduation, he began his career as an EHS engineer in Beijing No.5 construction engineering company. In 2002 he was employed by Beijing GKI electronics Co.,Ltd where he acted as an EHS supervisor. Two years later he joined ABB where he currently is working as the country sustainability officer in the sustainability affair department. Mr Li successfully finished his master program in Economics in 2004.

MA Zhongyu is the deputy director of Ningxia Provicial Commission of Development and Reform (NPCDR). His job at NPCDR is mainly focused on the making decisions for Ningxia provical industrial development policies, reginal development planning and investment policies. All his decisions is directed to setting Ningxia's industries on the way towards sustainable development. At the same time he works as a professor at Environmental School of Renmin University of China, engaged in research on recycle economy, ecology, resource management, sustainable urban and rural development.
He also worked at the Institute of Ecology and Resource Management at the University of Edinburgh (UK) from 1993 to 1995. He has published over 50 papers and 15 books, both in English and Chinese. He has attended and organized numerous national and international conferences, including International Workshop of Poverty and Enviromwnt in Beijing in 2004; the 3rd World Water Forum in Kyoto in 2003; World Water Symposium in Stockholm in 2003; 7th Session of UNCSD on Sustainable Tourism in New York, 1999; International Symposium of Sustainable Agricultural Technology, Beijing, 1997; System-Oriented Research in Agriculture and Rural Development, France, 1994; and Integrated Resource Management for Sustainable Agriculture, Beijing, 1993, etc. Ma Zhongyu has organized and directed several research teams and completed more than 20 research projects in the areas of resource management, carrying capacity assessment, poverty alleviation and rural sustainable development,sustainable development of agriculture, and ecotourism and natural heritage conservation. Currently, as an adviser to vice Premier Zeng Peiyan at state concile, he is developing the policy options of recycle economy development in China since China's economy develop very fast but its mineral resources and other industrial raw materials can not support its expected development objectives based on the conventional development pattern. Therefore, no other choices is available for achieving china's economy objectives, but recycle economy is only one choice for china to achieve higher resource use efficiency and mitigate environmental pressure due to its higher growth rate. Ma Zhongyu's research also covers the impact of soil erosion on crop yield in Loess Plateau of China, ecotourism development in Jiuzhaigou (a Tibetan populated region), water recycle economy and manament in Yellow River Catchment,etc. Ma Zhongyu obtained his Ph.D. in agricultural science in 1992 from Northwestern Agricultural University in China. In the period between 1996 and 2000, He worked in Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences as the leading scientist in the area of rural sustainable development. In 2000 he was transferred to Renmin University of China to establish the Environmental School and works in the school. In 2004 He is selected as the deputy director of Ningxia Provicial Commission of Development and Reform. |

YAO Zhuyun is a manager for regulatory affairs and Scientific Outreach for Asia Pacific of Monsanto Company. She is responsible for regulatory affairs and scientific outreach programs related to agricultural biotechnology products in Asia Pacific region. She also works with government affairs and public affairs teams to build relationships with the government and to disseminate information on biotechnology to the public. She is interested in the role of government in introducing new technologies and in the influence that academic advisors may have on policymakers. Zivanayi MANYIKA works as a provincial planning officer for Matabeleland North Province in the Department of Physical Planning, Ministry of Local Government and National Housing, Zimbabwe. The department's role is to provide and facilitate sound physical planning to government, local authorities and the general public in order to ensure a coordinated and orderly spatial development of the whole country. As provincial planning officer, Z. Manyika is responsible for physical planning matters in seven rural local authorities, three urban local authorities and oversees the preparation of the annual provincial development plan. He also chairs the Provincial Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Subcommittee which is responsible for the donor funded Rural-District Councils Capacity Building Programme. He is currently coordinating the multidiciplinary Victoria Falls Environmental Capacity Enhancement and Master Planning Project funded by CIDA. He has been involved in a number of rural and urban studies including the International Strategic Environmental Assessment of Developments Around Victoria Falls coordinated by the IUCN.
Z. Manyika graduated from the University of Zimbabwe with a bachelors of arts degree and a master of science degree in regional and urban Planning. He is a corporate member of the Zimbabwe Institute of Rural and Urban Planners and was the Institute's Vice President for two terms (1998-2000). |

With a Masters in Journalism from the University of Punjab, Lahore in 1985, Ms. Zofeen joined a woman’s English language monthly as an assistant editor, finally heading it as an editor. Moving on to work with Dawn, Pakistan’s widely circulated English daily; she did personality profiles and investigative stories on development (urban, women and environment) issues. Leaving her job in 2001, she started working as a freelance journalist, contributing to dailies like Dawn, The News and a current affairs monthly magazine, Newsline. She also contributes to international wire services including the Inter Press Service, Women’s Feature Service and Integrated Regional Information Networks, (commonly known as IRIN). Simultaneously she also took various consultancy assignments for a number of NGOs and INGOs.
Ms. Zofeen’s work has been commended nationally as well as internationally for her writings on development issues. In 2007, she was awarded the Green Media Award by Tetra Pak for her story on how leak of a radioactive waste dump which was affecting the health of the nearby villagers and the complete indifference of the government to the issue. In February 2008, she was awarded Women Achiever’s Award (in the field of journalism) by Indus Television Network for her writings on women’s issues. |

Zsuzsa FOLTANYI is the director of the Hungarian Environmental Partnership for Central Europe, where she has been working with NGOs to solve environmental problems of local as well as national concern. She is the editor of several books on environmental issues and the author of studies on energy planning in Hungary; her journalism work covers all aspects of environmental policy. Through involvement with grassroots organizations, she became interested in how new methods of public participation can help sustainable development. Her university education is in environmental engineering and biology.

Mr. Bhatti is currently working as the Director Programs at The Asia Foundation where he is supervising implementation and development of programs in civil society development, conflict resolution, democratic governance and gender empowerment. Mr. Bhatti was associated with Engro Chemical as the Public Affairs Managers, supervising government relations, corporate communications, and corporate social responsibility.
As the District Coordination Officer for Jhang, Punjab Province in 2007-2008, Mr. Bhatti introduced several governance innovations with one successful anti-corruption initiative that received wide recognition in the national press. Mr. Bhatti also managed all devolved departments – Education, Health, Agriculture, Works and Services, Information Technology, Community Development; also administering elections in Feb 2008 for eleven provincial and six national assembly constituencies. Over his tenure, Mr. Bhatti has also served in the governments of Sindh and Baluchistan. From 2002 to 2007, he worked with the Asian Development Bank and Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy.
