Xiujian PENG
PENG Xiujian is a full-time PhD candidate in the Department of Economics, Faculty of Business and Economics, Monash University. Ms. Peng was awarded Monash Graduate Scholarship and Monash International Postgraduate Research Scholarship in January 2001 by Monash University. Now, She is pursuiting her PhD under the supervision of the famous Economist, Professor Yew-Kwang Ng. Ms. Peng's research focuses on the relationship of Population growth and Environmental Change.

Before she enrolled at Monash University, Ms. Peng was a Lecturer and researcher at the Institute of Population Research, People's University of China. She taught Economics, Population Economics and Development Economics and conducted research in related areas. She has participated in a variety of projects on population and environment, population and economy and population and sustainable development sponsored by the Government and by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). More than twenty papers concerning these projects have been published.

Ms. Peng has a master's degree in Economics (1994) and attended a one-year Sino-American economic training sponsored by the Ford Foundation. She has also attended workshops such as PRB (Population Reference Bureau)'s workshop on The Communicating Population, Health and Environment Research with Policymakers; the East-West Center's Summer Seminar on population focusing on linkages between population, environment and health; World Bank's Workshop on Environmental Economics; an International Ageing Institute workshop on the economics of population ageing (UNFPA-Malta); and Sino-UNFPA's population and sustainable development workshops.

Xochitl CRUZ NÚÑEZ
Xochitl CRUZ NUNEZ became environmental evaluation and impact subdirector for the Environment Secretariat of the Federal District in 1996. Her research entails cooperating with the environmental sciences group at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) to develop and refine atmospheric models to improve environmental decision-making. She joined Secretariat after 10 years in academia, working first in the special studies on modeling and simulation and, in 1994, assuming responsibility for the emissions inventory department for the State of Mexico. In a previous position at the Mexican Petroleum Institute, she participated in the Mexican-American Research Initiative (MARI) to improve air quality. She has a master's degree in chemistry from UNAM, where she is currently a doctoral candidate in air quality modeling.

Xubiao ZHANG, is working as National Project Manager in ILO Beijing office, to manage a CSR training project,He has ever worked for GTZ as CSR consultant, also acted as CSR advisor for LEAD China, His interests focus on promote sustainable business management in China.

Xubiao holds a PhD on environmental management from Germany, two master degrees from Germany and UK, His research covers sustainability management in various sectors, sustainable business management from environmental and social perspectives.

Xuewen TAN
TAN Xuewen holds a PhD degree in Economics and is now a senior research fellow with the Institute of Rural Development of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Before that he worked in Beijing Research Center for Rural Economy for 5 years. His major academic interest includes migration and urbanization, rural economic polocy analisls and sustainable development. He is going to implment one research project of the safety issue of GM FOOD in 2007 and another project on rural governance in ethnic regions in China during 2007-2008.

Xun GONG
GONG Xun serves as an editor in Economic Science Press of the Ministry of Finance,who organizes and edits books mainly on economy, finance and environment science etc. She is also in charge of copyright businesses on foreign books.Since has previously held positions in education, business, governmentand media, Gong Xun has a good background to be a qualified editor.

A graduate of Yiyang Teachers College (1992), she also has a master's degree in literature from Central China Normal University. Several articles on 'Chinese Modern Literature' have been published, and the latest is translation and proofreading of CLOSER TO TRUTH(8/2000,Economic science Press,Beijing, China,chinese edition, by Robert Kuhn),which is famouse in USA not only as a book but also TV series,tapes amd a website.

At present Gong Xun is interested and pays attention to environmental edutation and hopes to step in further research in this field.

Xun YAN
As Deputy Chief of the Division of Nature Reserve Management for the Ministry of Forestry, Mr. Yan administers projects related to environmental conservation and the sustainable use and development of natural resources. He is interested in promoting personal responsibility and the wise use of natural resources to protect the environment and is currently working on conservation projects in cooperation with the World Wildlife Federation. Mr. Yan studied wildlife conservation at the Northeast Forestry University in Harbin, Heilongjiang in China and received additional training in wildlife and National Park management from the Australian National Park and Wildlife Service. He is a member of the Ornithological Society of China and attended the Asian Wetland Symposium in Otsu and Kushiro, Japan in October 1992 and the First Conference on National Park and Protected Areas of East Asia in Beijing in September 1993. His published works include 'The Present Status, Problems and Development of China's Nature Reserves', which appeared in The Journal of the Northeast Forestry University in 1989.

Yaba Rachel Désirée ZOCLY

Rachel ZOCLY was a news reporter and presenter at Radio Tokpa, a private radio station in Cotonou, Benin. She also reportsed on parliamentary activities for the station at Porto-Novo the second town city of her country.

From 1999 to 2000, Rachel worked at Radio Weke, one of the first Fm launched in her country. She was in charged of a gender programm which presented women from diverse sectors who succeedded in their professional life.

Rachel had a BA in American studies and American history from the National Benin University (1999). She had followed up her keen interest in communications with years of training and many workshops in radio production and journalism. She has a Certificate from CESTI, institute of Journalism located in Dakar, (SENEGAL). She attended numerous seminars on various subjects among which the national plan for Malaria eradication in 2001 , Workshop with deputies of the national assembly on the european union and and the EU onvention of Cotonou. She followed also a workshop at the african represention of Radio Netherland located in Benin.

Founder member of the association of journalists for health issues in Benin, she regurlarly published issues on sustainable development in diverse newspapers, and periodical of her country.

Her interests lied also with the gender issues, educating children, and communication for social change.

For two years, she taught english for pupils in a private school in Porto-novo.

She liked discussing , travelling and discussing.

Her keen to reading helped her to write poems and novels which she plan to publish in some years.

Rachel had visited many countries such as Nigeria, Senegal, Togo,USA, Ghana ,Cote D'Ivoire ,France and Mexico. She had visited almost all the cities of her country Benin.

Yacobus Gatot SURARJO
Yacobus Gatot Subroto SURARJO is the owner and director of Pt. Arga Calista Disain (Arcadia). His past experience includes lecturing at Jayabaya University and positions as an architect at Pt. Wiratman and Associates and Pt. Edsuko. He is a member of Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia and Arsitek Muda Indonesia.

He received his degree in architecture from the Institute Teknologi Bangun. He has received additional training in business at the University of California at Berkeley in the United States, in public relations from the London School of Public Relations, and in project feasibility studies from the University of Indonesia.

Yadong WANG
WANG Yadong was appointed head of the Division of Rural Training and Employment for the Ministry of Labor and Social Security on 1998. He is responsible for developing policy related to rural employment, the rural labor market and rural-urban migration. Over the years he has worked in several divisions of the Ministry including Employment and Funds, Labor Markets and Employment Services. He has enjoyed Ministry support to attend several training programs. He was sent to the London School of Economics to study employment policy, theory and practice in the Department of Employment of the United Kingdom from February to August 1994. His first job after graduation was at the Zhejiang College of Financial and Economics as a teacher in the accounting department.

He is interested in how employment promotion can enhance environmental protection and sustainable development, particularly in terms of poverty alleviation. His master's degree in agricultural economics is from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (1990). His thesis, 'A Regional Market for Agricultural Products', was published in China Agricultural Economy in 1991. His bachelor's degree in accounting and agricultural economics is from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (1985).

Yakaka Kachalla AJIMI is with the environment and safety department of the Engineering Division of Nigerian National Petroleum Corp, Lagos. She is responsible for providing cost-effective, qualitative and timely environmental monitoring and auditing of strategic business units. She also ensures compliance with statutory requirements. She has also held the position of assistant lecturer in the chemistry department of the University of Maiduguru. Her service in the National Youth Service Corp was with Kubear Alkyl Benzen (1989). Y.K. Ajimi has a bachelor's and a master's degree in chemistry from the University of Maiduguru.

Yamin WANG
Wang Yamin is now working as a Consultant in Office of Aquatic Fauna and Flora Conservation, Ministry of Agriculture, P. R. of China from 2005.
2002-2004 He work as diplomat in Permmanent Representation of The People's Republic of China To The United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture in Rome (FAO),and a PhD on fish ecology in Hydrobiology Institute of Chinese academy of sciences. He recently main interest is on international river and share water management. He engaged a research on 'China upper Youngtsi River aquatic biodiversity conservation and sustainable development' now, also interested in Mekong/Lanchang River management.

During 1991-2002, He is the assistant Director, Division of Resources, Wildlife and Environment Protection, Bureau of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture, China. He mainly works on aquatic environment protection, wetland, wildlife and aquatic ecology system conservation management. He pays much more attention on marine, coastal zone, river, lake and fishsheries ecology management. He also is the Deputy General Secretariat of China Agriculture Ecology and Environment Protection Association and the Trustee of Aquatic sub-association of China Wildlife Conservation Association.

He have many year experience on the organization and directing of all china aquatic biodiversity and wildlife conversation, pollution control and environment monitoring in fish habitat waters, setup refuge, wildlife trade management of CITES, wetland conservation, regulation make, fisheries resources management in daily business administration. As deputy director of the Engineering Design and Research Institute, Yu Yaming is responsible for the technical negotiation and contract management of projects in the fields of industry, infrastructure and architecture. Yan FANG
Mr. Fang Yan is currently an Associate Research Fellow as well as Director of Resource and Environment Policy Division at the Research Center for Rural Economy (RCRE), the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA). His responsibilities there include economic analysis and policy/technological solution suggestion on problem of non-point source pollution, environment-friendly farming system, development strategy of renewable energy and ecological restoration and construction in environment fragile area. Currently, as the national project coordinator, Fang Yan organize the FAO research project 'Area-wide Integration of Specialized Livestock and Crop Production' in Jiangsu Province, China. As the research team leader, Fang Yan organized the research project of the Ministry of Agriculture 'Eco-household farming project in Western China Development'(2002), 'Study on the application of rural renewable energy technology and the reduction of Greenhouse Gas emissions'(2003), 'Chinese Platform of Virtual Research and Development Center, FAO'(2003), 'Policy Review and Formulation on Ecological Construction of grassland in western China'. As the consultant, Fang Yan takes part in 'STUDY ON CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT OF NON-POINT SOURCE POLLUTION,TA3891-PRC of Asian Development Bank(2003)'.

Fang Yan used to be Deputy Division Director of Supervision Division of the Office for Rural Reform Experiment Area (RREA) (Feb. 1998 - Jan. 1999), Vice Mayor of Tianmen City Government of Hubei Province (Feb. 1996 - Jan. 1998), Deputy Division Director of Agri-Technology Policy Division of Research Center for Rural Economy (RCRE) (Oct. 1990 - Jan. 1996). More than 40 papers (& reports) and 5 books were published on sustainable rural development in China, include 'Policy, Technology and Management of Sustainable Agriculture Development' Published by China Agriculture Press,2003. Mr. Fang got his MA in agricultural economics at China Agricultural University, and received extensive overseas trainings in Wageningen University of the Netherlands. He was visiting scholar of Fletcher School of Tufts University and Food Research Institute of Stanford University in 1995, short term consultant of World Bank in 2002.

Her reponsibility focuses on the company's environmental,occupational health, safety and security management, which includes staff environmental,health, safey and security education, write-up of documents pertaining to the environmental,occupational health and safety management system (EHSMS), and the external co-ordination and internal audit of EHS projects. She previously worked six years in Nokia as an EHS functional Lead, and three years in ERM, a leading environmental,health and safety consultancy company. Zhang Yan has a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology. She is a nationally registered EMS auditor and OHSMS auditor. And she is also a certified PMP (Project Management Professional).

Yan ZHOU
Zhou Yan is founder and executive Director of Greenroots Power, a China NGO founded in 2002 and dedicated to empower China grassroots activists, stimulate the development of China grassroots NGOs, involve ordinary people into the construction of Civil Society in China. Zhou Yan was Media and Communication manager of Greenpeace China from Sept, 2002 to June, 2004, she is directly responsible for strategic development and implementation of GP's communication, media works and public affair in Mainland China. She had also been a member of the executive board of Grassroots Community, Assistant Consultant and Communication manager for Wilson Learning China, and a teaching and research assistant in the Chinese University of Hongkong. She graduated from LEAD program in Apr 2004.

Yan graduated from Peking University with an MA in Economics (1999). She also has a BSc in computer science and a keen interest in literature and sport.

Yanan Hungary
HU Yanan has been the acting division director of the Department of International Cooperation, part of the Ministry of Agriculture, since 1995. He is in charge of scientific and economic cooperation between China and America in the fields of agriculture, animal husbandry and fishing. Over the years, he has been involved in ten economic and technical assistance projects (e.g. Lean Swine project and Dairy project) that were jointly financed by the governments of Australia, Canada and China. From 1987 to 1988, for example, he participated in a working team that was sent to Bama County in the Guanxi Autonomous Region (one of the minority province) by the Ministry of Agriculture to help the local people improve their economy and alleviate poverty.

He participated in a two-year training course at Nanjing's Agricultural University, and also received training at the Egyptian International Agriculture Center for poultry production.

Li Yang, graduated from China Foreign Affairs University in 2004 with a bachelor degree in International Law, got her first full time job in Creative Technology Ltd, working as a legal associate.

In June 2005, she started to work as a volunteer in WWF-China and planned to stay for 3 months. But she gradually found this is the kind of job she’s always wanted to do. Her nice personality and high working efficiency has won her a lot of praise from the whole office. She was soon employed as Communications Associate and is taking for more and more responsibilities in environmental advertising, events and campaigns managing, legal affairs, volunteers training and managing, press work and many other things.


Li Yang enjoys watching wildlife documentaries since primary school, and now she’s help producing them and circulating them among general public to raise their awareness. She feels that working for WWF is very hard but interesting. Most importantly, by team working with a group of devoted and respected environmental experts, you can make the world a better place and be closer to the goal of human live in harmony with nature.

Yanina Ivanova Taneva
Yanina is a media practitioner, freelance journalist and researcher in the field of arts and alternative communications as tools for social change and tool to translate sustainability.

In 2006 together with 3 other young people in Bulgaria, they founded the significant Let us save Irakli campaign. Yanina was and is coordinating the movement and mostly its communications and PR for 4 years now. For more than 2 years she was also program manager of Art for social change program at the Red House center for culture and debate in Sofia.

Yanina is also co-founder of the interdisciplinary platform for sustainable shared future Future Friendly. She is also media and communication adviser for various NGOs and grassroots groups in the field of sustainable development and environment as the first Sustainability & Balkan culture festival and forest center in Bulgaria - Beglika Free Fest (www.beglika.org).

Since 2007 she is chairwoman and since 2008- managing director of the IDEAS FACTORY arts and communication for social change collective. She has BA in Mass communications from Sofia University and Leipzig University, MA in artistic psycho-social practices at New Bulgarian University in Sofia and currently doing MA in Cultural Anthropology at Sofia University St.Kliment Ochridsky. She has also a clown-diploma and experience as a performer.

Yanling Tang
Yanling Tang has been working in the commercial printing and packaging industry and is responsible for business development in a joint venture company based in Beijing, China.

Being inspired by the booming requests for environmental friendly packaging materials during her business in recent years, Yanling Tang has concerned herself with recyclable and degradable material and technology development. In addition to the packaging industry, she is also interested in the recycling systems and is willing to make the urban society more eco-friendly and energy saving through practice .

Yanling Tang graduated from Central South University with a bachelors degree in English Art. She also received a postgraduate degree of Integrated Marketing Communications from Hong Kong University SPACE.

Yao Feng
Yao is with LEAD China team as a Communications Intern and the program assistant. She joined LEAD firstly as an associate of Cohort 13, and became one of organizers of its national and international training sessions since 2009. She also acted as a resource person during the site visits of Beijing IS and contributed to the training workbook by providing background articles, especially on the theme of ‘business and climate change’ under the constitutions of sustainable development and climate change strategies. Her earlier career included Media Planner for Shanghai SunBridge Advertising, research assistant in China Foreign Affairs University and in Shanghai Institute for International Studies (SIIS).
She finished her postgraduate studyies in Strategic Affairs in Australian National University in 2008, which focused on security and political affairs in Asia and Pacific region. She was granted a Bachelor degree in Computer Science and Art in 2005 from Tongji University in Shanghai.

Yaouba KAIGAMA
Yaouba is currently working for the Netherland Development Organisation (SNV) as the deputy Director of SNV Cameroon. Prior to that, he was the coordinator of the tropical rain forest program in the same organisation. This program is fucussing on the sutainable management of the Cameroonian part of the Congo bassin tropical rain forest. It aims on building capacity of local organisations and and on the institutional development of the forest sector.

Prior to this position, he has been leading a biodiversity conservation project in the Northern Cameroon (GEF biodiversity project)

Before this, he was the technical adviser in the same project, responsable for the participatory management approaches and the co-management plans of the hunting zones in collaboration with local communities and the conservation services. He has also supported some local development committees to elaborate their participatory local development plans including land use plans.

He is involved in many associations working on the Environment/Development sector in Cameroon and in West and central Africa (Community Forestry Network, Impact Alliance, ).

Y. Kaigama received a tropical agronomy engineering degree from Montpellier, France. He has also an European professional Master awarded by a network of European Agricultural universities and scientific complexes related with agricultural development (réseau NATURA).

Yasmine Kathleen Kilian
Yasmine Kilian started her own business in 2006. Her passion is to promote social justice by erasing linguistic barriers in the various legal domains in multi-cultural societies and by providing developmental opportunities for school-going youth. She has helped members of the public to draft accurate witness statements and has written legal documents for the Labour Court. At present her company is promoting girls’ football as a means of fostering gender equality. Apart from promoting social justice and social responsibility, YKK Promotions CC provides writing and editing services to clients and members of the public.
Yasmine is a qualified teacher of English language and literature. She has taught English at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. Whilst employed as a lecturer at the Port Elizabeth Technikon, Yasmine published an article in an accredited journal. She holds a BA Honours degree in English literature and a Master’s degree in Second Language Acquisition studies from Stellenbosch University. In 2003 she was awarded the prestigious Ford Foundation Scholarship to pursue Doctoral studies in Forensic Linguistics at Cardiff University.
