Anja KÖHNE
Anja Köhne is currently working on her doctorate on the integration of environmental matters in EU foreign policy.

As an independent political consultant she focuses on European and international environmental policy with an emphasis on institutional questions, instruments, climate and energy and their interdependencies with development politics. Her consultancy contracts included the German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety on the World Renewable Energy Conference in June 2004 in Bonn (www.renewables2004.de), the WWF European Policy Office (Strategy and network project on 'EU-25 Energy and Climate Policies'), Greenpeace Germany and other NGO and NGO networks.

In honorary functions, Ms Köhne serves as a board member of the development and environment NGO Germanwatch (www.germanwatch.org) as well as of the German ecological research institute 'ko-Institut / Institute for Applied Ecology (www.oeko.de).

Anjelita MALIK
Anjelita MALIK works at the Royal Danish Embassy in Jakarta as the Business-to-Business (Environment) Programme Coordinator. Her role is to manage the Danida grant program that helps Danish and Indonesian companies in the Environment and Sustainable Energy sectors build long-term business partnerships.

Her interest main interest in sustainable development is in business sustainability and environment and sustainable energy industry.

Previously, she worked for a UNDP project that aimed to develop a strategy for a partnership between corporations and other stakeholders, regarding poverty reduction and environmental protection. The framework was what is now more known as CSR.

Prior to it, she worked for the Australian Trade Commission's Jakarta office, promoting trade relations between Indonesia and Australia in the environment sector. The position had a very strong relation with her previous work at the Department of Settlement and Regional Infrastructure in Indonesia, where she promoted private sector participation in urban infrastructure.

She finished her undergraduate study at Bandung Institute of Technology in 1996 and completed her postgraduate study at the University of Melbourne in 2000. Her master's research project discusses the decision-making process of finding a systematic manner to reduce the unaccounted-for water in urban water companies.

Anjuly DUGGAL
Anjuly Chib DUGGAL is the Additional Secretary, Expenditure at the Ministry of Finance in the Government of India prior to this she was with Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in the Government of India. A Fellow from Cohort 1 (India), she was elected to LEAD International's Board of Directors in 1998. She is a member of a management cadre in the Government in India and has been a development administrator in the areas of urban renewal, education, nonconventional energy, technology promotion, health and welfare. She has therefore been involved in policy formulation for pollution control, and has also administered environmental regulations.

For more than two years, until the end of 1998, A.C. Duggal administered the LEAD India program. Prior to that she was director and administrator for the Punjab Energy Development Authority. Her educational training was in psychology.

Anna Cecilia CORTINES
Anna Cecilia Avelar CORTINES is the coordinator of Ilha Grande's Sustainable Development Project for the Municipal Government of Angra dos Reis. This project aims at protecting the island and creating alternative economic opportunities for the local people such as ecotourism and mussel production. She has also worked within the Municipal Government in strategic planning and has experience in agriculture, and agrarian and fishing policies. She has a bachelor's degree in agronomy from the Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro and a post-graduate degree in environmental science from Universidade Estacio de S�, in Brazil.

Anna GOLUBOVSKA-ONISIMOVA
Anna GOLUBOVSKA-ONISIMOVA is working now as an temporarily consultant within OECD Environmental Directorate, Non-member countries division, in Paris (till mid-August 2004). She has recently graduated from EPCEM (European Postgraduate Course on Environmental Management) with the degree of Master of Environmental Management (25 June 2004) based in the Netherlands. She was working within UNDP-Ukraine project (January - July 2003) as Chief of Staff of the Kyiv Secretariat on the preparation to the 5th Pan-European Ministerial Conference 'Environment for Europe' (21-23 May, 2003, Kyiv, Ukraine). Previously (June 2001 - December 2002) she occupied the position of Deputy Director of the Environmental Policy Department in the Ministry for Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine, responsible to assist and substitute to the Director in the management permanent work of the Department (management of the State policy on the environment protection and natural resources use realization, environmental legislation development and national legal base harmonization with European legislation requirements, management of international cooperation and European integration in the environmental area), supervising 5-15 staff of the Division of complex analysis and prognoses and International Relations Department.

During her work in the Ministry, she also was conducting the duties of the Chair to the Working Group of Seniors Officials �Environment for Europe� on behalf of the Ministry for Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine, responsible for the coordination of the International preparation to the 5th Ministerial Conference (Kyiv, 21-23 May 2003) at the level of Seniors Officials: preparing and chairing the meetings and editing the reports of the WGSO and ExeCom, preparing the comments to the documents and participation in negotiations, working in close cooperation with the UNECE Secretariat, the member States and other actors of the �Environment for Europe� process.

She was a member of the Official Delegation of Ukraine at the WSSD.

During 1990 - 2001, she co-founded MAMA-86, National Environmental NGO in Kyiv, Ukraine and worked 10 years as the Director and Leader of this network, well-known in Ukraine and Internationally. Anna Krotova is a Communications (Public Outreach) Consultant at International Finance Corporation. She is responsible for developing communication strategies for Russia Residential Energy Efficiency Program and Russia Renewable Energy Program at IFC.
Prior to joining IFC Anna worked as an Expert at ICF/EKO, an american consulting company. She was engaged in various projects on EIA, SEA, environmental consulting and environmental due diligence.
Earlier together with other experts Anna worked for UNDP and WWF projects as a Research Assistant. She was also an Intern at the Ministry of Natural Resources in Russia.
Anna holds a Diploma from Moscow State University, Department of Political Science. Her Major is Environmental Politics.

Anna Tayari MAEMBE
Anna Tayari MAEMBE is the Director of Environmental Information, Communication and Outreach at the National Environmental Management Council in Tanzania, where she is in charge of the directorate environmental education, information management and communication activities. Her published works include Mapping of Fires in Miombo woodlands using remote sensing, Monitoring Vegetation Cover change in Mtera area and use of Indigenous Knowledge in Management of Rangelands among the Maasai Communities. She has participated in several international and national conferences such as the 1994 UNESCO Symposium in Islamabad, Pakistan,United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development session 9 (CSD 9) in New York (April 2001) and Prepratory Meetings for Rio + 10 in New York in 2002. A.T. Maembe holds a Masters of Science in Rural Land Ecology Survey from the International Institute of Geoinformation and Remote Sensing (ITC)of Netherlands and a bachelor's of Science degree in zoology, botany and education from the University of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. In addition, she has received training in GIS and remote sensing, international information management and environmental education from Kenya and Scotland respectively.

Anne Mutsa CHISHAWA
Anne CHISHAWA, an ecologist with the NGO (SAFIRE), Southern Alliance for Indigenous Resources, is head of the Information/Monitoring and Evaluation Section. She holds an MSC degree in aquaculture and previous work experience includes a position held for 8 years as an economist with the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Management of Zimbabwe. She has special interest in ecology, the CITES Convention and community based natural resources management. One of her future plans is to acquire a PhD through pursuing the issues of community based natural resources management.

Anne Nkese ENE-ITA
Ms. Anne Nkese Bassey Ene-Ita holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology and a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Sciences. She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Environmental Society, a member of the Scientific Committee of the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) and a Fellow of the Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD).

Ms. Ene-Ita joined the Federal Civil Service in Nigeria in November 1977 as Scientific Officer II in the then Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Environment.

She was Director of the Department of Planning and Evaluation in 1995 during which period she was the Programme Coordinator of the World Bank Environmental Management Project for Nigeria; Programme Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Assisted Programme on Environment and Natural Resources Management; and Programme Director of the Multilateral Funds Phased-Out Programme for Ozone Depleting Substances.

She was a member of Nigerian delegations to several sessions of the Governing Council of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and negotiating meetings of various international Conventions and Agreements including the Vienna Convention and Montreal Protocol for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, Basel Convention on the Transboundary Movement of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Convention on Biological Diversity. She was the Co-ordinator of the National Preparation Committee on the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), and participated actively in all the international Preparatory Committee (PREPCOM) meetings and negotiations on UNCED as well as the Earth Summit held at the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1992. She is currently the Head of the Division of Oil and Gas in the Department of Environmental Assessment of the Federal Ministry of Environment. Ms. Ene-Ita represents the Ministry of Environment on the Board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). She is a member of the Board of Foundation for Environmental Development and Education in Nigeria (FEDEN) representing the LEAD Fellows.

Anne WHYTE
Anne WHYTE is president of the LEAD board of directors. She also is president of Mestor Associates, a consulting group working in international development. From 1986 to 1996, she was director general for environment and natural resources at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), where she had overall responsibility for the development and management of research projects in developing countries in the areas of environmental policy, natural resources management, food security and environmentally appropriate technology.

She is currently a member of the China Council Working Group on Cleaner Production, a governor of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, and a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. She has served as chair of the board of directors of the Canadian Global Change Program.

From 1978 to 1984, she was director of the environmental studies program at the University of Toronto in Canada, and worked in the Man and the Biosphere Program of UNESCO in Paris from 1984 to 1986.

Her bachelor's and master's degrees are from the University of Cambridge and her doctorate in geography and environmental engineering is from Johns Hopkins University in the US.

Anne-Marie SCOTT provides thorough administrative support to the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy, with primary responsibility for the LEAD Canada Program. In this role, she manages LEAD databases and office files, assists in the preparation of information and materials for domestic training sessions, and organizes travel arrangements for the international sessions. Prior to joining the NRTEE, Anne-Marie worked as a Legal Secretary with the Department of Health and Welfare and also at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

Annetta Grant
Annetta currently works in the marketing department where she is responsible for analysis of market trends and studies, and has a particular interest in branding and the environment. She also completed a co-op apprenticeship with Cirque du soleil where she conducted analysis of web usage and trends. She was also vice-president of YOUCAN (Youth Organizing to Understand and Advocate Non-Violence) where she was involved in organizing and facilitating sessions on conflict resolution, and has represented a number of community organizations as a youth delegate at both the local, national and international level.

Annetta has a BA in Business Administration (Marketing) from the Université de Sherbrooke (QC), and a BA in Business from Leeds Metropolitan University (UK).

Annie CHIMPHANGO
Dr Annie Fabian CHIMPHANGO is a lecturer at Stellenbosch University, Department of Process Engineering in South Africa.

Annie holds a PhD in chemical engineering from Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Her work focused on developing a biological technology for production of speciality biopolymers from lignocellulosic materials in an integrated biorefinery set up. Annie has a master's degree in agricultural engineering from McGill University in Canada (1997), a bachelor's degree in agriculture with distinction, and a diploma in agriculture with credit from the University of Malawi. She is involved in research on development of technology for sustainable bioenergy value chains, conversion of municipal and industrial solid waste into high value products, postharvest engineering and food security. Previously she worked as a project coordinator/ manager for a Danish 92 group Rio +10 project in Southern Africa, based at Environmental monitoring Group in Cape Town, South Africa. Her role was to assist the civil society networks in Southern Africa in their preparation and participation in the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD). The work involved quite a lot of networking, sharing of information, research on WSSD emerging issues, and capacity building in lobbying and advocacy. She also worked as lecturer in agricultural engineering at the University of Malawi, Bunda College of Agriculture, in Malawi. Areas of interest included the development of appropriate technologies for rural locations, crop storage and processing, and food processing and preservation. She has also worked for Lever Brothers (MW) (a subsidiary of Unilever in Malawi) as a management trainee in Agribusiness section where she was overseeing production, processing and marketing of hybrid maize and sunflower seeds.

Anoop UPADHYAY
Anoop UPADHYAY is Principal Conservator of Forests, Government of Chandigarh prior to this he was a building a database and mathematical models as Deputy Conservator of Forests for the Resource Survey and Management Division of Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. The database and models are to be used in decisions regarding sustainable forest management. He also teaches forest management to post-graduate students.

He is a member of the Indian Forest Service. His work in the state of Punjab, has taken him to the arid regions of the districts of Faridkot, Moga, Muktasar and Ferozepur and to the watersheds of Hoshiarpur. In a past position, he was in charge of monitoring forestry-related activities. His Ph.D. in mathematics is from Lucknow University. He also participated in an FAO-sponsored training in the USA with a focus on tree improvement and biometrics.

Anthonia Aderinola AMUSU
Anthonia AMUSU is a senior reporter with the news department of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). At the energy desk, she covers issues concerning the environment, education, science and human interest. She has attended many seminars, workshops and symposia on the environment in Nigeria. Her special area of interest is women's development as it relates to waste generation, disposal and management and the effects on the health of children. She has a degree in education from the University of Ibadan and a master's degree in mass communication from the University of Lagos.

Anthony ABOLARIN
Anthony ABOLARIN is General Manager, NDDC Affairs with ELF Petroleum Nigeria, a subsidiary of the TOTAL Group (TotalFinaElf), where his responsibilities include strategic planning, corporate performance indicator design and control. Prior to his current position, he managed the Amenam/Kpono oil and gas field development project (about 950 million boeq) and the Obite Gas project for Nigeria LNG feed. His principal role was the management of joint venture partners involvement in decision making as well as host communities and government relations. Prior to these, he was the Corporate Safety and Environment Manager of the same organisation. He began his working career as an operations engineer in charge of wells and surface production facilities.

A member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the Nigerian Environmental Society (NES), he is interested in research on environmental damage and the response to significant environmental change. He is also a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN). In this regard, his primary interest is straddle fields unitisation.

A. Abolarin is pursuing a Ph.D. in the petroleum economics program at the University of Port Harcourt in Nigeria, where he also received his master's degree in engineering management. His bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria.

Anthony Malomo IMEVBORE
Professor Anthony Adia Malomo Imevbore attended the University College, Ibadan, Nigeria, where he obtained the B.Sc. degree of the University of London in 1960, as well as the Doctorate degree of the University of London in 1964.

Professor Imevbore has been a distinguished Nigerian Scientist in the area of Ecology and Environment. He has served as the Director of the Institute of Ecology of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and has for long been a Consultant to the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA), Nigeria; the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) and the World Bank on Environmental matters. He was a member of the Governing Council of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria from 1973-1977 and a member of the Auchi Polytechnic Board of Governors, Nigeria, from 1976-1980.

Anthony Osatohamen OBOH
Dr. Oboh is the Chief Scientific Officer and Head of Investment Promotion and Consulting with the Raw Materials Research and Development Council where he is currently setting up soda ash and kaolin catalytic models in factories. Previously, he was the Principal Research Officer with the Nigerian Institute for Palm Oil Research. Dr. Oboh earned his doctoral and master's degrees in food technology at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria. He received additional post-doctoral training at NEWI Degside in Cludy, Wales. He is a member of the American Oil Chemist Society (AOCS) and attended the International Conference on Palms and Palm Products in Benin City, Nigeria in 1989. His published materials include 'The Use of Nigerian Clays in Vegetable Oil Refining'. He is concerned with environmental preservation and sustainable economic development.

Anton Hendrik de WIT
Anton is an associate of the UK based Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and lecturer in the Department of Geo-sciences at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. He is responsible for the under and post-graduate environmental studies and environmental management programmes in this department as well as the supervision of relevant student research. His personal research interests mainly revolve around the fields of social capital, particularly its role in determining the outcome of community based natural resource management/conservation, as well as sustainability and environmental quality of life indicators. He has pioneered the development and application of environmental quality of life indicators in the Nelson Mandela Metro (South Africa), and recently indicators of social sustainability. Anton is furthermore involved in environmental advocacy having developed a series of popular lectures/presentations on climate change and global warming which are presented to diverse audiences on an ongoing basis.

Apart from his official duties at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, Anton is also a Research and Environmental Consultant. Contract research is undertaken in a variety of fields, amongst others in that of sustainability and environmental quality of life indicators. He currently leads the (planning and research) process through which sustainability and environmental quality of life indicators are used to provide the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality with the informational means to plan for and facilitate sustainable communities in its area of jurisdiction. His involvement in environmental work encompasses the domains of environmental and social impact assessment, environmental management systems, and environmental training and capacity building.

Environmental training and capacity building is one of Anton’s passions. He has been involved in planning, developing and managing a number of endeavors in this regard, including Agenda 21 training and capacity building projects (Eastern Cape Province, South Africa); ongoing training and capacity building for the Eastern Cape Provincial Government (South Africa); and the Population, Environment and Development Nexus training program (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) in partnership with LEAD and the Department of Social Development’s National Population Unit.

Anton’s university education includes a Bachelor's Degree in Education, an Honours Degree in Geography and two Masters Degrees, one in Geography and the other in Environmental Management, from the University of the Free State (Bloemfontein, South Africa). He also holds a Doctorate in Geography from the University of Port Elizabeth (Port Elizabeth, South Africa). Vem atuando como diretor e gestor de projetos no Brasil e no exterior com foco no engajamento das partes interessadas, definição de temas materiais, em estratégias e governança de sustentabilidadeem setores como saúde, transporte, energia, telecomunicações .

Before joining TDM, he has worked during three years at Central Hospital Maputo at Maintenance Department as maintenance technician for electronics medical equipment. In 1994 he graduated as Radio and Television engineer at the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria. Antonio Rico Lomelí is the General Director of Ecology at the Municipality of Naucalpan in the State of Mexico. Before joining his public job in 2003 he was a professor at the University of the Caribbean and Cancun and before that was a local congressman by National Action Party in Quintana Roo State.
His interest and work experience is about the Public Administration in Environmental aspects, sustainability and development. He recently obtained the second place in the National Prize of Public Administration INAP 2003 by his research about the Sustainable Management of Common Pool Resources.
He gained a Masters degree in Applied Political Studies sponsored by the Spanish Government and also was enrolled in the doctorate program of Government and Public Administration at the Complutense University in Madrid. Recently was involved in environmental affairs courses by two academic programs in Barcelona University (Spain) and Lunds University (Sweden).

Anupam Nidhi
Anupam Nidhi holds a Postgraduate degree in Human Resources from Symbiosis, Pune and Masters in Labour Law and Labour Welfare from Pune University. She is an Agriculture Graduate from Punjab Agricultural University, Punjab. Born in the state capital of present Bihar, she spent most of her childhood in Delhi. Anupam started her career in the IT sector as Assistant Manager Human Resource. Her major tasks were to structure and set up the Human Resources function in the company. She later took to provide services in setting up the Human Resource policies to a Pune based not for profit organization known for its contributions in Micro Finance sector. This brief but exhaustive exposure to the development sector made her appreciate the immense challenges the development sector face in the areas of Human resource, Capacity Building, organization development and the opportunities attached.

She left the Corporate and joined a renowned grass root level member based organization called “SEWA Bharat” for experimenting the ideas and also enriching her experience by working for the issues on Micro finance and livelihood. She was coordinating the Micro Finance program across SEWA’s and instrumental in making road maps to make them sustainable in the program approach. She has delivered sessions at various platforms. She was responsible for building the capacities of the microfinance and livelihood team at all levels. Her strength lies in working with the grass roots. She was also a member of the task force constituted by Urban and Poverty alleviation Ministry; Government of India.

Currently she is working with LEAD India as the Program Coordinator (Training and Projects). Her responsibilities at LEAD include; development and design of training curriculum for short courses, facilitation and coordination of training programs including the Cohort training. She intends to use her grass root experiences for building capacities of leaders and the youth of India through participatory natural resource management.

Anuradha CHATURVEDI
Anuradha CHATURVEDI is an assistant professor in the department of architectural conservation at the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. In addition to teaching courses on heritage management and conservation of traditional building materials, she is working on compiling a database on building crafts & heritage buildings & isdeveloping a computer based cultural resource system for Nubra, Ladakh & Zanskar

For more than 12 years, Anuradha has worked as a conservation consultant with the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage on a number of heritage conservation and development planning projects in Ladakh, Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. One of the projects currently being implemented is conservation of the Stok Palace Museum for INTACH in Ladakh.

She qualified with a B. Arch. from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, India (1985) and obtained her master's from the Centre for Conservation Studies, Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies, University Of York, UK. She also has a Certificate in Archaeological Conservation from the Institute of Archaeology, ASI in India; conducted research on conservation at Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music, Japan; and attended a course on use of the AutoCAD from CADCentre, New Delhi.

Anvar Jamalovich BUZURUKOV
Anvar BUZURUKOV is Vice-President of Tajik Social-Ecological Union, oldest NGO's in Tajikistan.

His current projects include telecommunications, educational and scientific work regarding the indigenous people of mountainous regions. His primary interests in this field are the maintenance and preservation of mountainous cultures and the access, which these cultures have to management of their own natural resources. Now he leads several projects in Tajikistan (ecotourism and national paks system) and in others CIS mountains regions. He is Advisor in Institute of Federalism (Moscow.

In 1996-1998 , Mr. Buzurukov worked as the Director of the Eurasian Mountain Centre (EMC) which was established by International Congerss of mountaneers (president of this NGO Russian Minister of national policy Dr. Ramazan Abdulatipov-famous russian politic. ALso in 1997-1998 he used to be a Advisor in Foundation 'Childreen of Chechnya')

He received his Master's degree from the All-Russia Academy for Foreign Trade, where he specialized in UN and international economic relations.
