Tri Dewi VIRGIYANTI works at the Directorate of Environment, Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS), Republic of Indonesia. She is responsible for planning, monitoring and evaluating environmental programs and policy in Indonesia and collaborating them with other development issues.

Virgi is responsible for supporting the Directorate in preparing and developing national environmental management and climate change strategy and plan. Moreover she also responsible in monitoring, evaluating and reporting the results of this strategy and plan implementation.

Virgi substantially involves in developing Indonesia Mitigation and Adaptation Action Plans, and monitor and evaluate its implementation. Furthermore, She also involved in many environmental management programs, such as developing strategic environmental assessment system and guidance for national development plans, developing indonesia climate change trust fund (ICCTF), emission reduction investments, debt for nature swaps, millenium development goals: Indonesia roadmap, ozone layer protections, and many other issues in collaboration with many national as well as international development partners.

In 2001 and 2003 she was appointed as the Project Manager for Community and Local Government Support Project which was funded by Government of Indonesia and ADB. The project was about developing a local system for empowering local community and local government in carrying out basic infrastructure development with a participatory approach.

Before joining Bappenas in 1997, she was an environmental engineer in one of local consultancies in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. She also attended an internship program in the Stockholm Environment Institue (SEI) in Stockholm, Sweden to do research into the impacts of the economic crisis on energy consumption in Indonesia.

Virgi's interests and work experience in the past few years have been mostly concerned with environmental engineering, environmental management issues and climate change. She is particularly interested in issues of water, environmental sanitation, waste management, energy and environment, economic instruments for environmental management, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and economics.

Virgi is an environmental engineer with an environmental management and development masters degree from the Australian National University, Canberra.
