Since Jan 2009, working with GSK Pakistan as Senior Manager Business Development based in Karachi. Core involvement is in the identifcation of growth opportunities and leverage them to become part of company business, Working with manufacturing facilities for ensuring timely launches of new products, line extensions, branded generics and packs rationalizations.
From Jan 2005 till Dec 2008 moved to the Regional Supply Chain for the Asia Pac Region in the capacity of Regional Manager. Main functional responsibilities included:
Managing information flow across various platforms within the supply chain network. This includes legacy systems (BPCS) at regional locations, data warehouses, Manugistics and SAP.
Develop and cultivate business relationship with the regional markets and manufacturing sites
Communication of critical issues, required resources, project plans and goals to Senior Management in the region.
Aligning the market/sites processes with the global supply chain design by working closely with markets/sites at varying levels.
Supporting Regional Sales & Operations Planning process and contribute by providing analytical performance measurement reports.
Work closely with Regional Demand (Forecasting) and Market Planning (Fulfillment Planning) in order to bring improvements in forecasting, customer service, inventory management, and Plant performances.
PROFILE PRIOR TO 2005:
Mr. Hashmi works for Bristol-Myers Squibb Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd as Manager Manufacturing Effectiveness/EHS, in which capacity he has successfully completed an enterprise wise automation and integration system called the MRP-II (Manufacturing Resource Planning)system. He is now responsible for supporting and implementing new automation systems within the organization. Building financila integration within these systems. Identifying productivity initiatives and then implementing these initiatives by involving concerned employees.
Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) is one of the core areas of management focus in Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS). Umar is also responsible for this very improtant area. He works closely with the corporate EHS department in implementing policies and strategies to meet the company EHS objectives. He also leads a core team of senior people from various functional departments of the company to ensure the efficacy of the environmental management system, prioritize strategies for implementation, continuously monitor the efficiency of the EMS, evaluate or benchmark with other group companies etc.
He also forms, train and guide various EHS sub teams at the facility to meet the EHS challenges and to increase the awareness of the employees. On-going training and education to the employees and also to the management is part and parcel of the job. Budgeting and planning for the projects and capital expenses. Identification of community support programs, sharing of best practices with peer companies and other industrial units, participation in various associations and other representatve forum etc. are also part of the job responsibilities.
He previously worked for Ciba-Geigy and the Data Processing Centre of the IncomeTax Department, Government of Pakistan. Mr Hashmi holds a Masters in Public Administration from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad.
