Wesley Daniel NAFARNDA is a lecturer at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Abuja, Nigeria. He lectures students and carry out research in the area of Veterinary Environmental Health, Veterinary Public Health, Biostatistics,Zoonotic diseass, Animal waste and effluent disposal and control, Food hygiene and Epidemiology.
Before joining the University of Abuja, he was a chief Lecturer and head of department of Animal Health and Production Technology at the Adamawa State College of Agriculture Mubi,Adamawa state Nigeria, the President, Academic Staff Union of the College of Agriculture Mubi from 1994 to 1997 and 2003 t0 2006.He was also the Divisional Veterinary Officer for Madagali Local Government Area in Adamawa State, Nigeria between 1991 to 1993,and Secretary General for the Cattle Rearers Association Mubi branch, 1993.Currently he is the Deputy Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universirty of Abuja and the Secretary of the Academic Staff Union Of Universities, University of Abuja Chapter. He has carried out several research work, some of which are published in reputable journals. He has also attended many of the Nigeria Veterinary Medical Association Conferences and is an very active registered member of the body. His primary focus and interest is on the effects of animal wastes on the environment and public health.He is currect a director with an NGO- Community enterprises Opportunities, a local NGO working on Education on Sustainable development and Poverty Alleviation in the rural areas of Adamawa State.
W.D. Nafaranda is a Veterinary Doctor by training, with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria, a Master degree of Veterinary Public Health (MVPH) and a Doctorate degree (PhD)in Veterinary Public Health from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. His PhD research work was on the Implications of abattoir wastes on the Environment and public health in Ibadan and Yola, Nigeria.
He has several publications on animal waste, the environment and public health related areas. He is married to Bar. Gwaatia Laraba and blessed with two daughters, Sarah and Marilyn.Presently he is the Deputy Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Abuja.
