Admos Osmund CHIMHOWU is a lecturer in Development Studies at the University of Manchester's Institute for Development Policy and Management. He is also programme director for the MSc in Environment and Development, and the MSc in Economics and Management of Rural Development. He has also been a lecturer in Development Studies in the Department of Rural and Urban Planning at the University of Zimbabwe. Before joining the University of Zimbabwe in 1998 he worked as a lecturing consultant at the Zimbabwe Institute of Public Administration and Management's Policy and Strategic Studies Division. He had also earlier worked as an environment research officer for ENDA-Zimbabwe an Environment NGO. Current research interest areas cover the areas of : Sustainable Livelihoods, Environmental Policy; Environmental Justice and Poverty issues.

He received a bachelor's degree with honours in geography from the University of Zimbabwe in 1989, a post graduate diploma in rural and urban planning in 1990 and a master's degree in regional and urban planning. Admos completed studies for a PhD degree in International Development at the Institute for Development Policy and Management, University of Manchester in the UK in April 2003. He enjoys reading, watching soccer and jogging.
