Adefunke T. ADEKUNLE, a plant pathologist, is an Associate Professor and Head of Department of Crop Science, at the University of Benin. She lectures about crop protection and plant pathology, supervises final-year projects as well as post graduate thesis on disease epidemiology, biological control, as well as the use of plant extracts as control for diseases on food crops. She also teaches seed pathology at the postgraduate level and is involved in the administrative work of the Faculty of Agriculture including coordination of field practical training of undergraduate students as well as being the coordinator of the postgraduate program in the department of crop science
A.T. Adekunle was a research fellow with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, between (1993-1998) where she carried out research for her Ph.D. thesis.
She obtained her bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from the department of crop protection and environmental biology at the Univeristy of Ibadan.
Other training that she has includes training in Research Management, Statistical Analysis Software and Proposal Writing.
Adefunke research interest is in the area of Biological control of Plant Pathogens using antagonistic micro-organisms as well as research into the use of herbs, medicinal plants and other plants of importance and indigenous to southern parts of Nigeria in disease control.
