Thokozani Olex Kanyerere is a Lecturer in Environmental Studies and Health Geography and Development with the University of Malawi. Thokozani obtained his Bachelor of Education majoring in Geography from the University of Malawi, Chancellor College in 1995. Upon graduation, Thokozani worked as a Secondary School Teacher until 1997 when took up a job with High Way Office Movers Company as a Transport /Administrative Officer in Johannesburg (Lenasia), Republic of South Africa.

In 1999, Thokozani went for further studies at the University of Malawi where he obtained Master of Science degree in Environmental Science. Upon graduation, he joined the University of Malawi, department of Geography and Earth Sciences in the Faculty of Science, teaching Environmental Studies and Resource Management, Health Geography and Development and Research Methods courses. In 2002, he went for further studies at the University of Science and Technology, Trondheim in Norway where he obtained Master of Philosophy in Social Change specializing in Health Geography and Development. Thokozani has attended several short courses and workshops on water, health, natural resources management and development issues. Thokozani is also involved in provision of consultancy services in baseline surveys, sustainable livelihoods, environmental health, natural resource management and monitoring and evaluation.
