Willard PHIRI is principal architect of the North East District Council of Botswana responsible for overseeing development and maintenance of buildings and reporting to the civic leadership of the region.

He worked for ten years(1993-2004 )in the private sector as consultant project architect, responsible for deputizing in overall company management, design, and project management.He thereby received recognition as corporate Member of; the Zambia Institute of Architects ,the Chartered Institute of Building and the Architecture and Surveying Institute, UK.

He is also a Fellow of Leadership for Environment and Development. His areas of interest currently include human settlements and the major issue of sustainable development. He also intermittently provides voluntary assistance to local communities and individuals in construction and is on the Volunteers roster of the Commonwealth Service Abroad Programme. He is an alumnus of the Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft eV and former intern of Knoten Weimar and HPP Bau & Projektmanagement GmbH of Germany

Willard is an architect with a bachelor of architecture degree from the Copperbelt University, Zambia .He also undertook postgraduate advanced professional training in Urban Infrastructure Management at the Bauhaus Universitaet,Weimar, Germany.

Willard has an excellent command of English and is also able to communicate in German
