Ana Maria MARTINEZ VAZQUEZ is a chemist and works at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (Instituto de Investigaciones en Materiales) as a chemistry teacher and as researcher on theoretical chemistry. Some of the studies that she had done are related with the nitric oxides. Nitric oxides are molecules that can take in corrosion and pollution problems. Her main goal in this aspect is to understand the reactivity of these molecules with metal clusters, in order to see if nitric oxides can be eliminated with catalytic surfaces. She worked at the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana-Iztapalapa for 10 years. She has written several textbooks for high school and for the first university courses. In those books, didactical aspects and environmental education has been takes into account. She is an independent professor with the PhD level in theoretical chemistry. As a chemistry teacher, the influence that she has on the student's attitudes is relevant, and for this reason it is important to have a background on the environmental problems and possible solutions.
