Ana Karina Gonzalez L�tzenkirchen is Coordinator of the Trade and Environment Programme at the Centro Mexicano de Derecho Ambiental, A..C., a leading environmental NGO based in Mexico City. She is responsible for developing and executing a series of projects aimed at promoting the discussion and understanding of the trade and environment debate related issues in Mexico and the American continent as part of various NGO networks.
Before rejoining CEMDA in January 1998 she was responsible of adapting a self assessment programme for environmental performance targeted to industry at the consulting firm Gal�z, G�mez Morf�n, Chavero, Yamazaki. She also taught the course on international policy and the environment at her former University, Universidad Iberoamericana to undergraduates and to Diploma courses students. Before she worked for the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Relations at the Regional Organisms Direction assisting in the development of various projects.
Ana Karina has recently published various book chapters on trade and environment related issues and coordinated a research project on trade impacts on deforestation in Mexico. Currently she is coordinating a research project on trade impacts on basic grains in Mexico. Her interests at work focus on international policy (economic integration and trade liberalization specifically) and environmental issues. Academically she is interested in the evolution of the regime theory and its application to environmental international governance. She would be interested in undertaking a PhD on this subject.
Ana Karina holds a degree on international relations, with a diploma course by Universidad Iberoamericana and a MPhil on environment and development from the University of Cambdrige.
