Adolfo MEJÍA PONCE DE LEÓN is manager of the department of binding at Unidad Profesional Interdisciplinaria de Biotecnologia - Instituto Politecnico Nacional (UPIBI-IPN). He is dean of the bachelor's degree program in environmental studies, manager of the bachelor's degree program in environmental engineering, and a lecturer and researcher. His work involves external relations and the development of research, studies and projects. From 1994 to 1999, he was in charge of ecology and environmental diagnosis in the city council of Naucalpan de Juarez and on the Mexico's state government. He was a private consultant for two years prior to this.

A. M. Ponce de Leon has a Ph.D. in ecology from Moscow State University and a Metropolitan Administration Diplomate from INAP. He has a degree in biology from UAM-Xochimilco.
