Alejandro ROBLES Gonzalez is the executive director of Conservation International in Mexico, and is responsible for heading the programs in the Lacandon tropical rain forest, the Gulf of California and the Oaxaca region. He previously served as director of the Gulf of California program. Prior to joining Conservation International, A. Robles was coordinator of the sardine and anchovy fisheries and the subdirector of fisheries development for the National Fisheries Ministry (SEPESCA). He also worked for a cannery and fishmeal factory, and conducted biodiversity field research on the Gulf of California. He is interested in fisheries, coastal zone management and marine biodiversity conservation. He has a degree in biochemical engineering from the Technological Institute of Higher Studies of Monterrey, Mexico.
