Xiang Hu is from Beijing and in 2003 studied at the graduate school of Asia-Pacific Studies in Waseda University. Where he finished his graduate courses for a Masters degree and in September 2003 started a Medicine degree.

Xiang HU used to serve as an officer of the Ministry of Agriculture of China and was sent to study in Japan by the Chinese government.When he was in China, Xiang Hu mainly comitted himself to diplomatic activities,techincal cooperations and nongovernmental communications in the field of agriculture. His time spent in Japan was principally focused on environment and sustainable development.

The topic of his graduate thesis for his Masters degree was 'New Paradigm for the Sustainable Development in Chinese Countryside'. In this thesis, with researching into Chinese eco-agriculture, Xiang Hu tried to seek certain developing patterns in Chinese countryside in which the progress of economy and the protection of environment could both be attained. He also put forward the approach of endogenous development for the countryside of Asia-Pacific developing countries. He made make further comparative researches between China and Japan in this field during his graduate study for a Doctors degree.
