Andy Ahmad Zaelany is a researcher at the Centre for Population (Human Ecology division), Indonesian Institute of Sciences in Jakarta (LIPI), Indonesia, since 1991. At this moment his position is a senior researcher of COREMAP (Coral Reef Rehabilitation and Management Program) in Indonesia. He's included in coordinating team for whole research in Jakarta, Bogor, Puncak and Cianjur (Jabopuncur) doing by LIPI for five years.

He received Bachelor degree in anthropology from Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia and Master degree in Ethnology and Rural Development from Georg-August University, Goettingen, Germany. His magister Thesis title is : 'Becoming the fish-bomb fisherman as an Adaptation Strategy in Economy Crisis : Case Study of Pulau Karang, Indonesia'. Now he is studying for doctoral at Bogor Institute of Agricultute (IPB) in Planning and Developing for Fisheries and Oceanografi.

Formerly, he worked as a researcher at the Group for Agroecosystem Research (KEPAS) and as journalist for the Suara Merdeka Daily.

Mr.Zaelany is interested in sustainable development, maritime issues and migration. As a LEAD Fellow, he hopes to expand his overall knowledge of population, environment and development.
