As an associate professor at the Daqing Petroleum Institute, WANG Xiaohua is responsible for the research work of an applied geophysics studying group. Currently, he is studying the high-resolution seismic exploration theory for oil prospecting and the impact of oil exploration and exploitation on oil-field environment and sustainable development. He also conducts studies on petroleum geophysics presetting, especially seismic prospecting.
He has attended a number of national and international conferences, including the joint SEF/CPS workshop on exploration geophysics in July 1993 and the annual meeting of the Chinese Geophysical Society in August 1994. In 1995, his study 'A Research on the Offset VSP-AVO Inversion Theory' appeared in 'GPP' and a paper entitled 'Study on Optimal Array Filtering' was published in 'OGP'. He has a Ph.D. in applied geophysics from the China University of Geoscience (1993).
