Wilbert Chitaukali is a Lecturer in Vertebrate Zoology/ Mammalogy at the Department of Biology, Chancellor College in the University of Malawi. He is responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. At undergraduate level his main subjects are Mammalogy, Behavioural Ecology and general Vertebrate Zoology. At postgraduate level he teaches various components within Biology including Applied Ecology and Natural Resource Management. He is also responsible for the zoological collection and the Animal house of the Biology Department at Chancellor College.,

Wilbert holds a Master of Science (MSc) Degree in Zoology from Knightsbridge University (2002) and a Bachelors of Science (Biology) Degree from the University of Malawi (1991). Prior to joining Chancellor College in 2004 he had worked for the National Museums for 12 years. He joined the Museums of Malawi in 1991 as a Curator of Mammals. In his career he has led and participated in a number of research projects in small mammals with local and international counterparts from South Africa, France, United Kingdom, Germany, and Czech Republic. He has travelled and made presentations at various forums within and outside Malawi in other countries including Tanzania, Ethiopia, France, Belgium, Germany and Czech Republic.,,,,,,,
He has a number of publications to his credit, co-authored with colleagues from other academic and research institutions. Most of these publications are in small mammals including subterranean rodents (mole-rats).
