Dr, Alabi S.O. SONEYE, is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography of the University of Lagos, Nigeria. His primary areas of specialization are GIS, Remote Sensing, Mapping, Resource Analysis, Spatial Analysis and Environment. He has had over 14 years experience as a University lecturer. He has also consulted for several private, public and international organizations and consortiums in Nigeria and abroad.

Dr. Soneye graduated B.A. Geography from the University of Lagos, Nigeria . He also obtained an M.Sc. (Geography & Planning, Specialization in Remote Sensing, Resource Evaluation and Cartography). He had his doctorate degree (Ph.D) in Geography (Specialization in GIS, Remote Sensing, Mapping/Map Revision, Environmental Resources and Studies, all from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.

He is a member of the Nigerian Geographical Society, Nigerian Cartographic Association, Nigerian Society of Remote Sensing of Environment, African Association of Remote Sensing of Environment, and Intergraph User Group.
