Alex completed a Geography degree (BSc Hons) at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2003. He subsequently started employment at National Energy Action, the UK’s leading fuel poverty charity. In this role he focused upon developing and implementing projects to demonstrate the potential of new renewable technologies in tackling fuel poverty and carbon emissions in domestic properties. After three years, Alex joined One NorthEast (Regional Development Agency) on a secondment opportunity to look at wider energy issues.
He has recently taken a permanent role at the Agency as Energy Leadership Council – Senior Specialist. This involves driving forward new work in a host of areas including distributed energy, offshore wind and biofuels.
Alex is passionate about the potential of new opportunities in the energy sector and determined to spread themessage that the North East has a huge amount to offer in the global challenge.
Outside of work, Alex is very keen on football and is player / manager of a local team (named LA Galaxy Allstars!), as well as being an avid Middlesbrough FC fan. He also enjoys the challenge of running in the steep Cleveland Hills!
