Alejandro Méndez is a lawyer with a master in Public Administration and a PhD in Government, University of Essex, England. He wrote his thesis about green politics and policy, proposing a “popperian” approach.

Alejandro attended the LEAD programme in 2007, the Beahrs ELP Course in Sustainable Environmental Management, UC Berkeley in 2005, a Diploma in Political Analysis, Universidad Iberoamericana 1993 and the Summer School in Social Science Data Analysis and Collection, University of Essex, 1997 and 1998.

Alejandro is Director of the Forestry Commission of Michoacán from 2008. He was member of the State Parliament and President of the Committee on Natural Resources of the Congress of Michoacán 2005-2008 where he coordinated the making and approval of the State Law on Environment, which was voted unanimously.
Alejandro worked as legal and policy adviser of the President of the Natural Resources Committee at the House of Representatives of the Federal Congress of Mexico in 2001-2002. Alejandro also worked as researcher and teacher at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in several public and private universities, and as a public official in several governmental offices.

Alejandro has performed as organizer, coordinator and participant, on several Seminars, Workshops and Conferences, in public policy, environmental policy and politics. Alejandro belongs to several professional and political associations and councils in public policy and environmental issues.
Alejandro enjoys hiking, reading and working in a small family farm with his wife, his daughter and son.
