Our Mission

LEAD is the world’s largest international non-profit organisation focused on leadership and sustainable development. We equip outstanding leaders from around the world with skills for sustainable decision making through a world class training programme and by offering them a worldwide network of their peers as a resource to help them address sustainability challenges at local, regional and global levels.

Our mission is to inspire leadership and change for a sustainable world. We believe that people are the key to change and that the complexities of sustainable development can only be tackled by investing in leadership.

We work through 12 member programmes globally who deliver training to new LEAD Associates and support our network of over 2300 LEAD Fellows.

In addition to our global Fellowship Programme we carry out a number of activities that support our mission including tailored training for public and private sector organisations, capacity-building activities and innovative projects focused on leadership and sustainability. All our activities draw on the knowledge and experience of our Fellows and regional Member Programmes.

In delivering our mission, LEAD will operate according to the following values and principles:
